Question about Toshiba 36AF43 36" TV

Open Question

No remote control on 36af43 toshiba- not the controller

Is it difficult to change the i-r sensor in this tv?
Do you have to remove the whole shell from the set or can one open the front panel to access it?

SOURCE: TV won't respond to remote(s)

I don't know of any adjustments for the IR receiver but the receiver itself could have gone bad or something may be blocking the IR lens not letting the IR signal get through. Maybe (but unusual) there may be a cold solder joint in the IR circuit. Sometimes dust will collect on the inside of the IR lens causing this problem. You can verify the operation of your remotes by holding them close to an AM radio receiver and pushing the buttons. You'll hear a popping sound through the radio speaker whenever a button is pushed. You may have to tune the radio up or down the band to pick up the remote's signal. Stargazer

SOURCE: front panel button access

You would be better off replacing all the switches on the front panel with Part # 23344507. You can order them through Encompass Elect. 800-638-3328.
Hope this Helps,

TV does not detect remote control.

Remote control receiving sensor circuit problem in the TV. Mostly due to degradation of the sensor over a period of time.

Go close to the TV and see whether you get a response. If it responds try determining the distance back wards. If the remote works up to certain distance, the problem is weak sensor (TV).

If totally not operative it is sensor circuit problem. It could be sensor or it's associated parts.

A lot of times it is the remote sensor in the set. These are good sets so I would have it checked out. Could be fairly cheap. Thanks for using fixya.

Toshiba 36AF43 will not operate via remote control (Yes, the batteries are fresh!)

try unplugging the tv and allow the tv to remain unplugged for a least 5 minutes. This will force a reset on the tv which should resolve your remote issues.
