Remove spark plug and pour 5mls or one teaspoon of premixed gas in the engine. Depress trottle to full with choke on "run", pull starter about 10 to 12 times If it starts and run for a while and then shuts off your carb needs servicing. If not remove muffler and look for a spark arrestor screen. This could be plugged up with soot. If it is, replace and this would have been your problem. While the muffler is off slowly pull starter rope and examine the piston if gas and oil oozes backwards as the piston moves to the top then the piston and rings need replacing.

First off, make sure the amount of oil is correct NOW. Does it start or try to? Check for oil in the air filter...if so clean or replace. Check for oil on the spark plug...if so, clean or replace. Start with the basic fixes and work your way up to the more complicated repairs
If too much oil is still in the machine,,,drain it out till it is at correct level. Do not think the engine will just burn the excess off....this can damage the engine.
