Actually, after many reboots, uninstalls, and reinstalls, unplugging, etc., it was determined to be my USB port. I took the video cam out of it's current USB port and put it in another USB port on my computer and it all worked via google chat (haven't tried windows live yet). My brother in law had the exact same problem. His comment "All USB ports are not created equal!".
If you haven't done the Audio setup in what ever program you are using, you need to do so . On YAHOO go to MESSENGER, then click on Messenger Preferences. Next In Cat ***** click on CALLING & DEVICES. Then when that comes up check to insure your microphone is selected to your installed audio card. Next check to see if your SPEAKERS are also set to your audio card. Nest below that is "TEST AUDIO", and in blue under that is "open"CALL SETUP ASSISTANCE". Then just follow the instructions. When finished it should work properly. Hope this helps. Bud

My lifecam vx-1000 says it's working just fine. Audio and Video work when I test it in the webcam program. However, when I make a call via google chat or windows live, they can see me but can't hear me. I need help.
