Audio mutes in video chat with skype

In video chats with two of my friends in skype - their audio will mute frequently as they speak while the video feed is uninterupted. It makes it difficult to have a conversation. Both use logitech web cams.

I wonder if more people have the problem and if there s a solution

I get the impression that when my friends talk to loud the audio mutes, but am not sure.

Hi,

Check if your microphone is muted or not, or let your chat friend check if his/her sound volume is turned on or muted.

Hope this helps.

When playing Halo Reach online I cant hear any friends in custom playlist. This is both in game and in lobby. If we join a chat party then we can hear each other fine though. When in matchmaking I can hear...

Depending on which type of chat session you are connected to... everyone needs to be in the same chat menu. Sometimes when switching from game chat to party chat you might still be stuck in game chat while others are in private chat or visa versa.

To talk to only players in your game: Press the Guide button, then select Party, Party Options, Chat Channel, and Game Chat.

To talk to only members of the party: Press the Guide button, then select Party, Party Options, Chat Channel, and Party Chat.

To mute an individual: Press the Guide button, then select Party, the player's gamertag, and Mute.

It is a possibility that you are not in the same chat session with your friends. they might be in a party chat with others while you are in game chat. (note you can only have a max of 8 people in one party chat) Or you might still be in a party chat (that everyone else has left) and they are in game chat.

Camera works but skype tells me the microphone is muted.

Go to Tools | Options | Audio Settings which is how the audio and microphone settings are adjusted in Skype.

Your microphone might be muted in the Windows multimedia sound control panel - if you double-click on the speaker in the Windows taskbar you will get the mixer control panel - select Recording devices if the Microphone is not shown, make sure the MUTE checkbox is clear.
