Is it overfilling? or is it just leaking during the spin cycle? Overfilling would be caused by the filling system malfunction(air pressure is applied to a switch as the drum fills telling the water solenoid when to close. Pop the cabinet lid from the frontside and lift open. Check the clear tube on the left side behind the basket. Look at the airbell it is attached to for any obstructions. If it looks fine then the switch may be bad or the solenoid may be sticking open.
Overflowing during the spin cycle means a possible bad top basket seal. Not a huge deal to replace. Just pop the top ring by lifting the tabs around the basket. Replace the foam rubber seal and snap back in place paying attention to which the tab alignment. Hope this helps

Thank you! I had this problem and it was the pressure tube as described. It was very clogged after 12 years and in addition to overfilling, the wash size selector switch wasn't working. One additional tip to others: the pressure tube on my machine is black. It runs from the base of the tub up into the electronics panel.

Remove the tube from the water level switch. Blow it out so the sediment will stop blocking the tube. Re-attach it and pump out the water. Retry.

Yes, I think that rubber tube measures water level. But I've never changed one. Good luck.

Maytag Neptune TL washer overfilling

yes i would agree the water valve is defective as if unplugged it should close, but also sounds like a pressure sensor or pressure hose problem that is also defective too due to the fact that it should at least start the wash cycle even though the water doesn't stop filling,so also it could be the central control unit, pressure switch or pressure hose

Washer is overflowing

The water input on washers is controlled by the timer which actuates the solenoid valves for both hot and cold water, telling them when to fill and when to close. I would run the machine thru a fill cycle with the washer back off, and with a voltmeter, observe if the voltage ever cuts off as the timer runs. I Another variable is the water level control. So also determine if that is working since if it failed to open the 'fill' circuit at the proper volume, you might have this overflow problem.

Usually this is caused by the water inlet valve sticking in the open position. If you can catch the washer while it's overflowing, unplug the washer. If the water stops, then the problem is most likely a pressure switch or pressure hose. If the water does not stop, it is most likely the water inlet valve.

At the end of cycle washer will not stop filling and overflows. maytag neptune fav6800aww

There is a diaphram switch located in the machine at the bottom right in the rear. When you remove the front panel it will be all the way back on the right. It senses the water level. It has three levels it detects. I had a problem with mine filling too much. That should take care of your problem.

Cold water cycle has warm water no cold water allowed. sounds like some kind of valve is not stopping the hot water from coming in

Make sure that the inlet hoses are connected to the correct inlet solenoid valve (located just inside the cabinet). If the hot water solenoid was passing water when not wanted, the washer would eventually overflow on to the floor. There may be a problem with the solenoid control circuits which may require professional help to diagnose.

Water won't cut off

if you have to shut the water off at the source you need a new water inlet valve. If not then you need to replace the pressure switch.
