Answering machine turned off but voicemail message displaying on handsets

I setup the phone system yesterday & turned off the answering machine before ever receiving a call. Once phones were plugged in a message immediately displayed stating New Voice Mail. However, when listening or attempting to clear, it states no voice mail messages. How do I clear that from the Handsets?

I have the same problem, looks like it is just a bad set up and taking it back. My guess is I had bluetooth setup at one point to sync my cell with the phone and the phone registered the mail queue of my cell phone and not the mail of the cordless phone unit, so despite clearing it from the cordless phone, it still thinks there is voicemail from when it last accessed my cell phone. Terrible...and I can't find a solution either and won't waste time doing so... returning it.

Welcome to FixYa.

Your phone needs a hard reset.

  • Turn off all the handsets if you have more than one.
  • Disconnect the power cord of the base from the power source.
  • Unplug the phone line from the base.
  • Let it sit for 15 mins.
  • Reconnect back the phone line to the base and the power cord.

Keep me posted.

SOURCE: We have a model nl.

If teh handsets do not mesh even when they are placed for a search then it is possible that the main base to remote transmission is not accepted.
This is a usual fault in cordless phones and is relative to a number of reasons.
My advice with least bit of technical solution is as follows as it seems that the handset and base must be probed, to see if the circuits function, if battery had leaked to the board and disturbed the frequency or there is change of value in the components due to storage or aging.
1,You can put the set plugged on after veryfying the battery, check the terminals, clean if dirty.
2. Also warm the handset, if you can remove and clean the pads and the main board taking care not to damage any leads or flexible wire strips.
3. make sure that the battery contacts are clean , solder the connector joints if possible.
4. place the sets for charging and warming overnight before you can try to try to use the scan for locating the handset,.
If there is no result then the menu should be checked with reference to the menu and see if the default settings have changed. If not the system has serious fault and should be estimated before you can think of repairing.

SOURCE: How can I change the

The amount of rings before a call goes to voicemail is setup on the network itself and not the phone. Some mobile providers won't let you modify it and others will depending on your region. You would have to call your mobile provider for the availability of the option and the procedures. Sometimes you dial a number to change it other times it can only be changed manually by the provider.

You have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when people call while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.

Even though my answering machine indicates it is on, noone can leave a message. The response is that the mailbox has not been set up.Can you help? Thank you.I have had this system for quite a while and have...

A "mailbox not set up" message is coming from your telephone line voice mail system, and not from your telephone answeringmachine. What this means is that the voice mail on the phone line is picking up before the answering machine has a chance, and since the mailbox hasn't been set up it can't take any messages. So there are two things you'll need to do.

First, you'll need to set up your voice mail. You may need to contact your telephone service provider for setup instructions since not all systems are the same, but here's how it usually works. From your home phone, call your own number so you reach your voice mail. You should get the message that your mailbox hasn't been set up, and will be prompted for an access code to get to the setup menu. The access code is usually the last four digits of your phone number, and you'll be prompted to change it to something else as part of the setup. Through the setup main menu you can record your greeting and set up other options like the ring count before the voice mail answers. Set it for a number larger than the setting on your telephone answering machine. (I have my answering machine set to 4 rings, and voicemail set to 6.)

Step two is to verify the ring setting on your answering machine. Four rings is a common default setting, but it's adjustable on the phone. Most newer phones have menus that you access from the handset to set change settings, while older models have a switch on the base unit.

Once the mailbox is set up and you have your answering machine set to pick up first, everything will work as you want.

Deleting messages (memory may be full).

Verify you do not have old messages on the the system. After the system plays all new messages, press Play/Stop again or from the handset Select 2:Play.If you find messages, delete them during or after they play.

After you listen to your messages, the voice message icon turns off. If it doesn't or if you can not receive messages, you should try to reset it: With the phone in standby, open the menu and select Global Setup; select VMWI Reset, then select Yes.

Make sure the Record Time is not set to Announce Only.

Hello
The fax has a phone port labelled 2-EXT. Connect a phone cable to the 2-EXT port on the end, and then the answering machine on the other end. No setup the answering machine to answer the call after 4 rings, and setup the printer to answer after 6 rings, and make sure Auto Answer is turned ON on the printer.

My faxes will not receive because of communication errors

Hi,

Scenario 1

In the HP Solution Center, click Settings, point to Fax Settings & Setup,
and then click Fax Setup Wizard.

After you have connected the phone cord to the port labeled 1-LINE, run the
fax test again to make sure it passes and the HP All-in-One is ready for faxing.
Try to send or receive a test fax.
Make sure you use the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One. If you
do not use the supplied phone cord to connect from the telephone wall jack
to the HP All-in-One, you might not be able to send or receive faxes. After
you plug in the phone cord that came with the HP All-in-One, run the fax test
again.
If you are using a phone splitter, this can cause faxing problems. (A splitter is
a two-cord connector that plugs into a telephone wall jack.) Try removing the
splitter and connecting the HP All-in-One directly to the telephone wall jack.

Scenario 2

If you are not using a distinctive ring service, check to make sure that the
Distinctive Ring feature on the HP All-in-One is set to All Rings. For
information, see Change the answer ring pattern for distinctive ringing.
? If Auto Answer is set to Off, you will need to receive faxes manually;
otherwise, the HP All-in-One will not receive the fax. For information on
receiving faxes manually, see Receive a fax manually.
? If you have a voice mail service at the same phone number you use for fax
calls, you must receive faxes manually, not automatically. This means that
you must be available to respond in person to incoming fax calls. For
information on setting up the HP All-in-One when you have a voice mail
service, see Fax setup. For information on receiving faxes manually, see
Receive a fax manually.
? If you have a computer dial-up modem on the same phone line with the
HP All-in-One, check to make sure that the software that came with your
modem is not set to receive faxes automatically. Modems that are set up to
receive faxes automatically take over the phone line to receive all incoming
faxes, which prevents the HP All-in-One from receiving fax calls.

If the HP All-in-One shares the same phone line with other types of phone
equipment, such as an answering machine, a computer dial-up modem, or a

the length of your phone. A reduced fax signal can cause problems during
fax reception.

If you have an answering machine on the same phone line with the HP All-in-
One, you might have one of the following problems:
- Your answering machine might not be set up properly with the HP All-in-
One.
- Your outgoing message might be too long or too loud to allow the HP All-
in-One to detect fax tones, and the sending fax machine might
disconnect.
- Your answering machine might not have enough quiet time after your
outgoing message to allow the HP All-in-One to detect fax tones. This
problem is most common with digital answering machines.
The following actions might help solve these problems:
- When you have an answering machine on the same phone line you use
for fax calls, try connecting the answering machine directly to the HP All-
in-One as described in Fax setup.
- Make sure the HP All-in-One is set to receive faxes automatically. For
information on setting up the HP All-in-One to receive faxes
automatically, see Set the answer mode.
- Make sure the Rings to Answer setting is set to a greater number of
rings than the answering machine. For more information, see Set the
number of rings before answering.
- Disconnect the answering machine and then try receiving a fax. If faxing
is successful without the answering machine, the answering machine
might be causing the problem.
- Reconnect the answering machine and record your outgoing message
again. Record a message that is approximately 10 seconds in duration.
Speak slowly and at a low volume when recording your message. Leave
at least 5 seconds of silence at the end of the voice message. There
should be no background noise when recording this silent time. Try to
receive a fax again.

Scenario 3

The HP All-in-One might be dialing too fast or too soon. You might need to
insert some pauses in the number sequence. For example, if you need to
access an outside line before dialing the phone number, insert a pause
following the access number. If your number is 95555555, and 9 accesses
an outside line, you might insert pauses as follows: 9-555-5555. To enter a
pause in the fax number you are typing, press Redial/Pause, or press the
Space (#) button repeatedly, until a dash (-) appears on the display.
You can also send the fax using monitor dialing. This enables you to listen to
the phone line as you dial. You can set the pace of your dialing and respond
to prompts as you dial. For more information, see Send a fax using monitor
dialing.
? The number you entered when sending the fax is not in the proper format or
the receiving fax machine is having problems. To check this, try calling the
fax number from a telephone and listen for fax tones. If you cannot hear fax
tones, the receiving fax machine might not be turned on or connected, or a
voice mail service could be interfering with the recipient's phone line. You
can also ask the recipient to check the receiving fax machine for any
problems

I can send faxes, but not receive them on Canon Pixma mx310

Do you have the phone you are answering with connected through the fax machine? If you have the machine set in 'tel priority' mode, the machine will not begin receiving a fax until you press 'FAX' and the 'color' or 'black' button. Alternatively, if you have your phone connected to the 'telephone' jack on the machine (next to the 'L' jack), you can press '2' and '5' on the telephone keypad to turn the machine on in fax receive mode.

Phone hookup

First only plug the line in the LINE socket otherwise it wont receive.

Manual receive will probably be the best as conflict may occur with the answering machine and the fax. You will either not receive faxes or messages. Its a bit of a pain as you will have to be home to receive faxes. eg pick up the handset and press start.

Its the easiest. Unless you want to fiddle with both machines settings to use the fax/telephone mode.
