Sound is intermitent and sometimes crystal clear (like during previews) and then when the movie plays the dialogue cannot be heard.

Go to setup and change it from 5.1 to 2 channel audio. I have no idea why, but it worked for me. Cobyusa.com/solutions is where I found it at. Good luck.

SOURCE: When I play DVD's theres
When this happens changing the audio output setting will sometimes fix that problem. Within the menu of the DVD player if it is on bitstream change it to pcm (might say 48khz or 96khz). If it is already set to pcm then change it to bitstream. If you can chose whether or not to have secondary audio on or off make sure it is off.

Barely or not at all?
The previews are almost always in a format-neutral audio track, like stereo. Once the feature starts you're usually listening to a multichannel soundtrack.
The dialog of a movie is usually carried on the center channel. Check to make sure you can hear and adjust test tones on all speakers per the manual first.
