Question about IBM P 202 21" CRT Monitor
Hello, I have this huge 21" from a friend a couple of months ago, its old but still had good brightness. Recently today, It stopped functioning. Just seconds before "death" the screen flickered a few times, looses focus and dead screen. Switched it off and on, there's this "peeeeet...peeeett" sound for a couple of time or can be more. The LED then blinking amber, signaling error. Turned it on and off countless times, consistent symptoms. I do like electronics but I'm only good on digital circuits. When it comes to power supply and analog circuit, I'm dead. Where should diagnostic procedure starts on this kind of problem? I'm an electronics majoring in microprocessors, with guidance, I've replaced some capacitors in other older monitor. I'm a great fan of sharing experiences especially on the net. This is my first post here.
Well like you I am a little bit green on this level of 'Electrontrickery' My best bet would take it to an 'old fashioned TV repair shop It seems that the problem lays in this level of expertise- What i was a little wary of in CRT monitors/TV's was the high voltages around in the Line Ouptut Transformer areas- very nasty.
