Printer was working fine, suddenly prints very slowly. Tried uninstalling and re-installing. Still slow.

Hi

Thanks for trusting FIXYA for your problems

Its just the cartridge problem and needs to be replaced. Normally its with color cartridge but make sure and replace the faulty and it should be ok.

Align the print cartridges again to make sure its not the reason as this can also cause the printer to print slow.

Got a new computer with Windows 7. HP Deskjet f4100 has worked just fine printing, but now I want to scan and it doesn't do it. Manual says I need to install HP Photosmart, but the disc I have pre-dates...

Drivers and software for supported OS versions are here: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=3177560 . Select your model and then chose the version of Win7 you have. Download the full software.

Uninstall the generic driver from your computer first. (It's probable that you installed the OS driver which only runs the printer. If you leave this in place then you will confuse your computer.) Then disconnect the data cable before rebooting the machine. Now install the software from above.

I hope this helps.

HP Deskjet F4100 Series willnot print..uninstalled and reinstalled...still nothing

HP printers are interesting.
Uninstall the printer, now disconnect it and reboot.
Install the drivers WITHOUT plugging the printer in until it tells you to do so.

I have found that this problem is usually caused by installing the driver with the HP printer connected.
