Why does my Viewsonic PJD5122 turn itself off after about 30 seconds of use?

Review your manual and check for a self-protecting power-off feature to prevent overheating. If it provides one, then you may have a fan that is out or became disconnected. Re-trace your steps when you replaced the lamp, you may find something that was not re-connected.

The unit turns itself on and off every 30 seconds. The screen displays hello and then 30 seconds says off and then a 30 second pause. What can I do?

This is a shut down due to an error in the system and is related to the malfunction of the main drives or the optical units.
You need to check the loading and drive sections, check the power to the main board/ processing section. Some times a fault in the mother board can result in such a shut down and will require a flow chart check up.
Take consensus without tampering.

It sounds like it's on but the screen is black, I can hear the fan start up etc, but nothing shows up on the monitor

Hi,
Welcome to FixYa!
This may cause by an electrical charge in the motherboard itself,Im not really sure how it affects the display of the computer. There's also a possibility that the problem is with the LCD cable or the LCD itself. Please follow this method since it usually fix such problem like that,

1.Removed the battery then unplugged the AC adapter

2.Press and hold the power button or the ON/OFF button for at least 30 seconds

3.Connect the power supply back to your computer then turn it back on.

4. Check if you will see any difference.

5. If nothing happens, try to press and hold Fn and F2 on the keyboard.

If nothing happens, there is a possibility that the problem is with the LCD or monitor itself, maybe it will need a replacement...

I hope this information will be helpful. Thank you for using FixYa...

Cpu fan problem

If you plugged the replacement fan into the power supply instead of the "male plug on the mother board" you will get that error message. You need to find a fan that has the female plug for the mother board. It solved my problem.

Black screen

Sometimes the player crashes with a blank black screen. It looks like it's turned off, but it's actually hung. Try holding down the power button for about 30 seconds, or until the player reboots itself.
