The looks of the bulb are no indication that it's okay. How many hours of operation do you have on that bulb? The bulbs are average rated for 5000 hours, but its been my experience that they usually last on average 3000 hours. Try replacing the bulb and then check and rest the buld hours counter.. Best place I've found for purchasing the bulbs is DLP lampsource. They'll sell you just the bulb without the housing at a dramatic savings. http://www.dlplampsource.com/
To display the lamp time press [ 2 ] nine times.
to reset press [ 3, mute, enter.] Or with the set in standby press [ display, 5, vol up, power ]
then press [ jump 3.]
Hope this helps!

Depending how long you have owned it and if a Lamp was ever replaced, it probably needs to be replaced. You can check with SONY at
1800-222-SONY and see if they could sell and send you one.
Hope this helps,

Indeed it is easy to replace the bulb, unplug the TV first, simply remove the outer cover door, then you need to remove the protective inner door, simply place your finger in the ring pull and lift gentley up and pull, when you have the replacement bulb you need to remove the 2x screws on each side holding the fixing brackets then remove the screw that is located at the bottom where the bulb wires are, once removed then you can remove the casing, undo the retainer bracket screws for the bulb and also disconnect the wires from the bulb, DO NOT touch the new bulb with bare hands you must use rubber inspection gloves as your skin oil will damage the lamp, fit new lamp and re assemble housing and re-fit making sure you rerplace the inner door correctly.
