Question about Nintendo Wii Fit for Wii

"Step Off Me and Press A" message while not on wii board

When Wii Fit starts it says "Step Off Me and Press A" but I'm not standing on the Wii Fit Board. The Wii Board test works fine and says the board is operating good, but Wii Fit will not get past above message.

I have the same problem it just started last night, I took off the silicone cover, took out the batteries, even grounded the unit thinking it might be static. I'm out of ideas!

I have the same problem. The advise above didn't cure the problem - any other ideas?

Are you using any sort of gel or silicone cover on the Balance Board?

It is not a problem with syncing. It has to do with one of the corner sensors. I have repaired many in the past with this problem and 98% of the time, the screw inside of the board on the foot closest to the orange and white stick was too tight causing the sensor to always be on. The other 2% is most likely some damage with the circuit board which would require a repair from Nintendo.

    The Repair:
with the board on and synced, go to the training menu and enter the part of the game where it tells you to step off and press A. Flip the board over and with a phillips head screw driver, unscrew the three screws around the foot I mentioned above. Remove the pieces and you will find a large Torx T30 bit under that holds a metal plate to the top of the sensor block. If you don't have that, a Flat head screw driver that fits in the slot will work. Slightly loosen that screw. Just enough so that its a little looser but not too much because it will cause that side not to function at 100%. After doing this attach the foot and plastic piece and screw the three screws in most of the way. Flip over and press A and the system should go past the error. IF not repeat the steps with little adjustments until the problem is resolved.

When you get this message, lift the board off the ground, press A, and wait until you get to the confirmation screen before placing the board back on the ground. You may have to try a few times to get the timing right. I have no idea why it thinks someone is on the board, but this workaround has solved the problem for us. Good luck.

Looked around for a solution for a long time for this one.

1) removing the batteries from the Wii Fit balance board for at least a minute.

2) Turn the Wii OFF by pressing the POWER Button on the front of the console. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet for a few seconds. After a few seconds plug the cord back into the outlet.

2 Turn the power of the Wii console ON. When you see the Health and Safety screen, open the small flap on the front of the Wii console to find a red button labeled "SYNC." Press and hold the SYNC Button down for 15 seconds. This should clear all the old syncs on the Wii.

3 After holding the SYNC Button on the Wii console down for at least 15 seconds, you can now "re-sync" your Wii Remotes:

a With the first Wii Remote you wish to sync, remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote to find a small red button just below the batteries.

b Press and release the small red button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote; the blue lights on the front of the Wii Remote will turn on.

c Quickly press and release the red SYNC button on the inside of the white flap on the front of the Wii console.

d When the Player LED blinking stops and stays lit, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).

4 Start the game from the Wii Menu, don't forget to sync the Wii Balance Board from the opening screen of the game (you've deleted the syncs earlier).

Another problem may be the surface on which you post the Wii fit, make sure it's flat, try put it on the floor directly or place it on a rug.

And don't forget to "step on" it when it says and not before as the Wii console might be "overloaded".

Wii fit board keeps saying get off and press A to initialize game but no one on the board. Have tried new wii fit disk but same. Other ski game works with the board

You get off press a wait for it to say step on and then get on. If it keeps saying it after you get off, take out the batteries and get a new battery pack, don't step on it at all until it loads.

My wii fit balance board says to step off and press A

You need to load it, stand on the board, step off, and then press A. I have a WiiFit and that happens. It expects you to be standing on it.

Wii Fit Doesn't work

Do not stand on the Wii fit board until it says to. The board needs to reset itself before any tests are completed. For best accuracy, complete all the initial tests and follow the instructions to the letter.

Wii Fit Board won't register with Wii Fit software

Nintendo had me set and reset the console and then the Wii fit board. They also had me take out the batteries from the Wii fit board, and repeat the reset. Apparently this works in many cases. IT didn't work for me, so now I'm bringing the unit in for repair. I am just a week past my 90 day warranty- they are charging me 47 bucks to fix it! What a sham! that's half the cost of what I paid for the darn thing!
