Playback intermittently plays in slow motion and in fast

When we record on the disk all seems fine and quite often we are only in record or stby mode - no special effects being used when recording (at least I don't think so).

However, once we format the disk to playback we find that about every 45 seconds or so it will run in slow motion for about 2 seconds and then about 5 seconds later it will run faster than normal for about 2 seconds. All other aspects are fine. Is ther a setting that I need to adjust or do I simply have a problem with the camera.

Can't seem to figure it out.

same camcorder, same problem . after finalizing disc and playing back on dvd player, playback video motion slows and then resumes every 5 mins or so. I am making sure camcorder remains still during finalizing.I have used fujifilm and phillips dvd-r. I am now using sony brand dvd-rw,but have not finalized and viewed yet.

When playing back on the TV, it is intermittently slow or stops. However, in reading the manual, it says that "the image may freeze for an instant between scenes depending on the DVD device being used. This is not a malfunction." Go figure.

Have you tried using a different DVD-RW? If you have used the same one over and over, it may have been corrupted by frequent use.

Has the camcorder done this since you bought it or is this a recent problem. If it is more recent it could be a problem with the read/write heads on the camera itself.

If this doesn't work, comment on the solution post and we can continue to trouble shoot.

Hope this helps!!!

Unfortunately, no. By recording in fast mode, the camera captured fewer frames than usual. When played back at the normal speed, the action appears faster than normal. Because the camera recorded fewer frames, there is no way to make up for the images that were not captured. You could slow down the playback, but the result would be a jerky, jumpy video.
Now, if you had accidentally captured the video in slow motion, you could then throw away some of the intervening frames and recreate a normal-speed video.

Check your camera settings in movie mode for the correct settings for time lapse, normal, slow motion and fast motion. A slow recording memory card will not produce your problem but will take longer to save the file. If you shot the movie in PAL and played it on an NTSC TV, the picture would be in black and white with no sound and vice versa. ALWAYS format the memory card in the camera, never on a PC

When I play back a recording on my camera, it is perfectly fine. When I put it on my computer, the video and sound is out of sync. The video is also in slow motion. Why?

Sounds like your computer is having trouble decoding the video. You might try a newer video playback program, such as VLC (http://www.videolan.org).

VX2100 record settings for slow motion playback when editing

you can't ! you have to slow you footage afterwards.
Anyway, try to record with a slow speed shutter (1/30th of a second or less) to fluidify your images but if you want to slow down your footage, it's probably because the scene is "fast" and this doesn't could help you anyway !!!

I have a canon SD 580. When I playback the video clip it's always in fast forward mode and I can't play it normal speed. Any help?

Make sure you are shooting your movies in "Standard" mode. If you have the mode set to something else, especially "Time Lapse", the playback may not match 'natural' motion.

In any case, you can control the speed of the playback. When you first enter the movie playback mode, there should be a movie control bar along the bottom of the LCD. Instead of the "Play" button, select the "Slow Motion Playback" button (single arrow with single bar next to the normal Play button), and control the speed with the left or right arrows on the multi-controller.

Olympus DS30 voice recorder play speed issue

Hi, the solution to the problem seems to be the following. When u press play, once, you get 1x play. If whilst playing you press play a second time the DS-30 goes into slow play mode, and if you press a second time it goes into fast mode. For those of us who accidentally went into either fast or slow mode, just press the play button again, during playback, until "play" appears on the LCD screen. Apparently it is as simple as that.

VHS system malfunction

VCR's automatically detect what speed the present tape was recorded at. It only gives you a choice of speeds when doing the recording. If you are saying that it won't playback a tape recorded in one of the slow speeds, it is most likely because VCR's with more than two heads use different combinations of them in different speeds and the ones used for slow speeds are maybe needing cleaning. If this is the case, the vcr will seem to be playing OK, but the video playback will be bad.
