SOURCE: Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Not Connecting

I have the same mouse and I had to install the intellipoint 6.1 software that came with it, and it worked flawlessly. Then I sold a few of them that I had and mixed up the dongles in the sales and now none of them work. Trying to figure out if I can force a recognition or are they proprietary to only one mouse. Go to microsoft and see if the intellipoint 6.1 is a download.

SOURCE: microsoft wireless notebook mouse model 1024 will not function.

Possibilities:
1) One of your USB devices have faulted, or is causing a resource conflict (or similar)
-- Remove all USB devices, and reboot.
2) Your USB chip/ports have been damaged.
-- Find a spare HardDisk or bacjup your data and re-install Windows and see how that goes.
3) Your Power Supply Unit (PSU) isnt supplying enough power to your PC (usually caused by a Video card upgrade). Try a more powerful PSU ... 400watts should do the trick
4) Bad memory (RAM) can cause wierd problems. run memtest for an hour to make sure your memory is ok

It seems that many people are still getting the 'USB Device not Recognized' problem from time to time. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.
Firstly, it's recommended that you make sure every one of your motherboard drivers are completely up-to-date, but you probably already knew that.
In XP, after a USB port isn't used for a long while the USB driver built into the OS sets the OHCI controller to suspend. When you plug a device back in, it can sometimes fail to 'wake up' properly. This problem was supposedly fixed in SP1 but there is a related registry hack that may still be able to help.
Run regedt32.exe and navigate to;
HKEY_LOCAL_Machine\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Usb
Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.
A long shot perhaps, but I recall having similar problems with a USB hub built into my Microsoft keyboard and adding this key seemed to solve it. It wouldn't hurt in trying .
Alternatively, removing all entries relating to USB in Device Manager and all associated USB drivers will force XP into refreshing the USB driver stack.
Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;
1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)
2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.
3. USB Root Hub(s)
4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)
Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.
Hopefully some of this may be of help, let us know how you get on.

SOURCE: microsoft mobile mouse 3000, usb flashes green and mouse lags.

This is probably a way for the mouse to conserve battery power when it has been idle for a while. Is there any software that was installed for the mouse. If so check and see if there is any settings that would cause this like a sleep mode ect.

The wheel on my Microsoft explorer model 1362 will not scroll forward but works fine scrolling backward. Is this problem fixable and if so how?

You probably need to clean the mouse wheel. If this doesn't work it probably means there is a bad connection inside and you need to replace your mouse.

Tip

USB devices not recognised or not working properly?

Try these steps to reinitialize your usb ports on your pc

1. Unplug ALL USB devices connected to the computer. If you are using a USB mouse and keyboard, temporarily use the older type PS/2 devices if you have them, if you don't then just leave them connected.

2. Hold down the windows key and press r

3. Type devmgmt.msc into the run menu and press ok

4. Click on the + sign next to the Universal Serial Bus Controllers
71921df.jpg
5. You might need another mouse to do this if you have a usb mouse.. I recommend you get a ps2 connector mouse which goes into the green round connector in the back of your pc.
0a245dd.jpg
6. Right click and uninstall first the usb root hubs. all of them then uninstall the rest of the devices you see under Universal serial bus controllers

7. Ones you have uninstalled everything you should see the Universal serial bus controllers there at all.

8. Now go ahead and restart your pc.

9. Ones you have restarted the pc your usb ports will reinstall in a moment stand by while it installs all of them. If you get warning messages click ok or continue installation.

10. Now go ahead and plug the usb devices back in. Install software if required, all usb devices if not faulty or broken should work now. Also note the error code if you get one?

This solution doesn't fix all usb problems so if you have a yellow ! mark there and device status reports a error code. Then it might not be a problem with your usb ports.

I lost the usb dongle for my mobile mouse 4000, can it be replaced? if so where can this happen?

Try going to microsoft help and support or microsoft replacement products. If you dig around enough in microsoft you'll find about anything. Also you can e-mail a tech, rep, or what ever they call them selves and get an answer in three or four days, if you're lucky. Also If you know anyone else that has the same mouse you can burn the software off their usb on to another, it don't have to be the little tiny thing . Get you a USB with a few MB on it and burn you a copy or two, DanGill

My Acer laptop ASPIRE 5738 does not recognise USB Mouse, previously it is working fine. But if I attach other USB device it is working. It is only problem with USB mouse.

Do you have another USB mouse around that you can test with? It sounds like the USB port on your laptop is fine but the mouse is the issue.
If you can find a spare around and test or alternatively you could try to bring the laptop to a friends house and borrow their USB mouse temporarily.
My guess is that the other mouse will work fine. How many USB ports does this computer have? You can also try changing which port you plug it in to.

My wired mouse is not recognised on my laptop

I assume this is a USB mouse and it should work.
Attach the mouse and check your device manager that can be accessed by doing the following:
Find the icon for My Computer (XP) or Computer (Vista, Win 7).
Right click on it and then choose the hardware tab.
When that tab opens, click on device manager.
Check the mouse item to see if your mouse is recognized. It may have an exclamation mark on it. If so, right click on it and delete it.
Check the USB devices at the end of the list to make sure there are no exclamation marks on any. If there are, delete them.
Restart the computer to see if the devices are found. This should work. The only problem you could have is if the mouse itself is bad or if your motherboard is having a problem.

LG GSA E 40 L External dvd writer not recognised

you may be having conflicts with usb devices. try temporarily removing all unnecessary devices from the usb ports. unplug and then plug the drive back in. you could try another port. if all ports are in use, then unplug another device, like the mouse and plug in to that port, then plug the mouse into the writers port. i had a similar problem with a wireless usb lan that stopped another device from being recognised. when i removed the lan and replugged the unrecognised device, windows recognised it. i obviously had to use the wireless lan, so i swapped that with the mouse and it worked.

Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse Not Connecting

After reading on Microsoft about replacing the batteries, down loading drivers and "press the button on the receiver and the connect button the receiver" - I got frustrated and almost gave it flight. Then my wife stepped in and realized that there was a green reset button on the USB connector as well. (who knew?) SO.... you press the green light (which is a button) and release it.... should blink. Then go to THE MOUSE portion and press the connect button for 5 seconds or so.... and wala...... One mouse that plays again! This ones gonna cost me! :) I hope this one works for ya!
