SOURCE: LG Home Theater System LHT754 no sound

All you are currently doing is getting sound OUT from the LG HT system. If you want sound from your cable or satellite, you have to run a seperate audio cable into the back of the LG system. If you are running a cable line straight into the TV you need to run an audio cable OUT of the TV so you get sound via the LG system.

SOURCE: speaker wire

Use the same gauge that is supplied for the rear. Probably 24 gauge.Do it with the power off. If the wires touch with the power on the rear output IC will blow. Good Luck

SOURCE: Receiver keeps flashing "PROTECT"

The protect message indicates that a problem was detected in the last stage of the amplifier and that it has shutdown to prevent further damage. Usually this indicates that the output transistors have failed. Any shop that works on audio should be able to repair this. Expect a part cost in the $20-$40 range. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.

Home Theater / Surround Sound Receiver simple Connection.

Are you tired of trying to remember what input on the Home Theater / Surround Sound Receiver goes with the Input on the TV? Wife fussing at you that the TV is too confusing? Here is a simple way to set up your connections.

Connect each of your devices ( ie. Cable box, Game Sytem, VCR, ETC) to the inputs on your TV.

Locate the AUDIO OUT on the back of the TV.

Connect a cable from the AUDIO OUT on the TV to the TV/AUX INPUT on the back of the Home Theater.

If the Home Theater has a DVD player built in then connect the Video out (either Component or HDMI or standard Video out) to the TV.

When not watching a DVD (if equipped), keep the Home Theater tuned to AUX/TV for the source.

The advantage of this set up is that whatever input you tune the TV to will then play through the Home Theater speakers without having to change the source on the Home Theater.

NOTE: Turn the volume all the way down on the TV to avoid distortion due to the slight delay between the TV and Home Theater Audio.

Hope this tip is helpful for many of you.
Robert
IM tryin to hook up my samsung home theater system to my philips tv. It works when watching dvd, but when i switch to my basic tv cable it doesnt play sound out of my surround sound speakers. How can i...

Check what type of Audio input it has on it. It should either have an Optical Audio input(glowing red while unit is turned on) or an Audio input(red and white jacks) You would run the correct cable from the Audio Output on your tv, To the Audio Input on your surround sound reciever. Let me know if this helps solve your problem.

Can't get XBOX 360 to have audio through surround sound speaker

Make sure that you have the RC Cables (red and white) plugged into the audio ports that coincides with the component video inputs. If that wont work then try plugging the audio and video cables into the inputs for the satellite, since that works. That way you can isolate the issue. If it still wont work try using the XBOX 360 HDMI cable. That has both audio and video.

Salutations ddog,

Really this is a question of sources. The reason your able to hear surround sound when connected to your DVD player is that is what is providing your audio and video source. When your watching television it would depend on how your getting your broadcasts. If you are either receiving an over-the-air broadcast or cable directly to your set, your television becomes the source. As your television is providing the signal, you would need it to loop back to your receiver to provide that surround sound.

Now for the good news, if you have a cable or satellite box these should have outputs to connect to your receiver to provide the audio source.

Also keep in mind not all broadcasts provide a version of surround sound. Most newer home theater systems will replicate surround sound artificially.

I hope this helps.

Hooking up the RT 2600

connect all the devices into the receiver inputs then there should be 1 set of outputs to the tv. This is to play everything using surround sound as all the video and audio is going through your recevier... if you want to do HD and have surround sound you will need a new receiver as this one has no hdmi inputs or outputs.
