I have a wall clock, with metal 'scroll work' the clock runs but the pendulum doesn't swing. How to repair the pendulum mechanism?

If your wall clock is running but the pendulum is not swinging, it may be due to a few potential issues with the pendulum mechanism. Here are some steps you can take to repair the pendulum mechanism:
  1. Check the suspension spring: The suspension spring is a thin strip of metal that hangs down from the top of the clock and holds the pendulum in place. Check to see if the suspension spring is properly attached to the clock and if it is straight. If it is bent or damaged, it may need to be replaced.
  2. Check the pendulum leader: The pendulum leader is the part of the clock that connects the pendulum to the clock's movement. Make sure that the pendulum leader is properly attached to the clock and that it is not bent or damaged.
  3. Check the escapement: The escapement is the part of the clock that controls the swing of the pendulum. Make sure that the escapement is properly lubricated and that it is not damaged or jammed. If it is damaged or worn, it may need to be replaced.
  4. Check the beat setting: The beat setting is the adjustment that ensures that the pendulum swings evenly. Make sure that the beat setting is properly adjusted by moving the pendulum to the left or right until it swings evenly.
  5. Check the weights: If your clock has weights, make sure that they are properly attached and that they are not obstructed or damaged.
If you've tried these steps and the pendulum still isn't swinging, it may be best to contact a professional clock repair technician for further assistance. They will have the expertise and tools needed to properly diagnose and repair any issues with your clock's pendulum mechanism.

G-shock GA 2100 - New batteries drain in couple of hours

The battery compartment may not be making proper contact with the batteries. This can cause the batteries to drain quickly or not work at all. Make sure the batteries are properly seated in the compartment and that the terminals are making good contact with the batteries.

The watch may have been damaged during the repair process. If the watch was mishandled or damaged during the repair, it could have caused a problem with the battery compartment or other components of the watch.
To troubleshoot the problem, you can try the following steps:
Check the battery compartment: Make sure the batteries are properly seated and making good contact with the terminals. Clean the terminals and the inside of the compartment with a soft cloth if necessary.
Check for faulty components: If the watch is under warranty, you can try contacting G-shock customer service for assistance. They may be able to help you diagnose and repair any faulty components.

How to set on the alarm on a seiko D 409 5030 silver wave

Here are instructions for the watch as a .jpg file...if you press both the "C" and "D" buttons ( refer the attached pic) at the same time you should hear the alarm ring. If it does not it will possibly need checking by a Seiko repair centre ( possibly no parts available though due to age)
Cheers

Lost stem on watch. can i get replacement? can i install myself?

mcdevito75 Here, Pulsar a quartz watch. If you lost the stem, the mechanism holding it into the watch maybe damaged, this mechanism also turns your Pulsar watch on / off. Best Bet, visit a small watch repair shop in your area, have them take a look at your Pulsar watch. You could replace the stem yourself but first you"d need the right size stem, (hard to get) then if the mechanism holding the stem in is damaged you"ve wasted your time. Your local small watch repair shop can let you know, and they usually don"t charge to have a look.

Screw down crown wont lock

There are only two things that can cause screw down crown to malfunction. First is dirt and second is weakened/damaged thread. In first case you need to use ultrasonic cleaner by immersing the crown AND case to get rid of any dirt and grime sticking on both threads. If the matter is weakened/damaged thread - you will have to fit new crown and (possibly) new case tube on which crown is screwed onto. This can be done by decent watchmaker only.

I left the battery in my watch for a long period. when ihad the battery reknewed it would not work

This could be due to several things. 1) if the battery leaked it could have damaged the circuit or gear train requiring a watchmaker to repair this.

2) the person replacing the battery could have damaged the coil, battery contact, gear train or gotten dirt in the movement. Again a watchmaker would be needed to repair this.

Hope this helps.

Changing the battery on My Casio Watch module 1848. Two tiny coil springs fell out. Where do they go? I reassembled the watch where i think they belong, and face is blank.

The contact springs most likely have nothing to do with your screen being black.
The watch will have an "AC" or all clear function that needs to be performed. Check the back lid for AC or reset instructions. If there are no instructions there then you will have to visit a watch repairman/technician to have this procedure performed as it involves touching the AC pad on the circuit board to the back of the battery already installed. The circuit board is easily damaged if not performed properly.

I have an old Mickey Mouse Timex Electric wrist watch. It has not had a battery in for many years. I recently took it to a local jewlery store for a battery. They could not get it to run and said it could...

possibly- but do not throw it out- get a second opinion,

it is pssible that acid has leaked out and damaged inside.

even though not working it has value as it is a collector item

Replaced battery, now no beep.

I have a Timex Digital Heart Rate Monitor 585 (product code T5C351F5)m, which has the same Short AC Pad and battery +ve message. There is an arrowhead pointing to the pad. It's a raised metal platform - a bit different to some of the Ironman's mentioned above. Here is a pic...6e1fe0e.jpg
