Could be the Tcons flex cable connections. If that doesnt solve it then the Tcon would be suspect. If you need a Tcon you can get one from www.tvrepairworld.com

SOURCE: Vertical Red Line

I had a bright red 1" wide vertical line on the right side of my Vizio P42HDE as well as an equivalent Green line on the left. Sometimes a Blue line would appear adjacent to the red line. Had this TV sinc Oct. 2005. Based on internet research, I opted to purchase an LG 6871QCH060Q board (upgrade to the 6871QCH038A and the 6871QCH038C). Picked the board up on Ebay for $100 + $10 shipping from ShopJimmy parts.

From start to finish, this took about 2 hours to repair. Tons of screws to remove. Took me a while to figure out that the video connection unit in the back is completely modular and needs to be removed before attempting to remove the back cover. Once the cover was removed, I was surprised that I could not see where the replacement board was located. Turns out, you have to go one level deeper and remove the audio board and digital board followed by metal bracket/cover. Once removing the metal cover, the bad 6871QCH038A board was visible. A couple of zip ties will need to be cut as well as several cable connections to get to the 6871QCH038A board. Replaced the board with the 6871QCH060Q upgrade. Make sure to keep the sticky foam rubber isolation pieces and adhere them to the new board. It did take some time to figure out how to disconnect and reconnect all the various types of cable connections. Just take your time. The power cable connector for the 6871QCH060Q board is in a different location, thus I had to reroute the cable. Reassembled and only had 2 unused screws left!

TV workd great. Lines are gone. Have a little burn-in going on where the red line appeared, but still better than forking over $800 for a new 42" LCD 1080P TV. Hope to get a couple of more years out of this Vizio.

One line I found has a general example of LG/Vizio repair manual. Not exact, but close enough...http://www.scribd.com/doc/7580885/LG-TV-Plasma-Training-Manual

SOURCE: I have a vizio model

more then likely you have a bad sustainer board. Do you light coming from the panel. Sometimes theres an IC chip under the heatsinks and that goes bad causing the screen to go blank. Let me know if that helps at all.

Vizio 50" Plasma VP50HDTV20A comes on with sound but screen shows rainbow colours before pictures comes and picture is blurry when on and not in full color. All the inputs have the same display.

If this is an old Plasma TV that you picked up somewhere, it may just be too old. Plasma screens degrade over time.

New plasma TV's are not common anymore, so I am assuming this one has been around for awile.

If it is new, take it back to where you bought it.

I have a vizio Vp50hdtv20a with no picture. I replaced 4 2200uf caps on the power board, 1 680uf cap each on the x and y boards. There is clicking and 1 led lit onthe y board. Any more tests i can do

If the board is repaired and installed check the output is in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications

clciking is probably the sound of electrical discharge, i.e. something is not conducting but is shorting out
This is a generalisation but there should be no such untoward sounds present

I have vp50HDTV20A HDTV PLASMA TELEVISION The

Good day sir Thor!!!!

I already encounter that kind of problem many times..It looks like all normal even the green power light is not blinks or change to red or amber color but still no sounds or picture on TV..

Sometimes it will happen to plasma TV in all brands and model..It cause of faulty main board..

This is the sample picture of main board of your unit..Part # (3850-0142-0150)

You can order this parts here:

Just replace the board to fix your TV and it works again..

Note: When you install the board make it sure that the static energy on your body discharge to ground to avoid corrupt of main board IC..

EXAMPLE: open the cover then find the main board..before you do that make it sure you hold the metal portion of your TV to discharge static after that you can now freely replace the board and also make it sure to memorized the connector to avoid damage to make it sure take a picture on it before unplug connector for future reference in case..

again discharge static please!!!..Only few tech or other people know this that's why when they install new boards its not works even it is new..I discover this base on my experience and study..

Hope it helps..

Please don't forget to rate!!!!

Thank you using fixya..

My Vizio vp50hdtv20a has no video but has audio. any solutions??

A lot of Vizio sets had a habit of the T-Con board fuse opening for no apparent reason. It's a rather small surface mounted devise (smd) that does not look like a fuse your accustomed to. Best to let a professional make sure.
