I have recently purchased a t690 in which the dvd drive has vanished from the list of drives. The list now skips the E: drive and lists the card drives. I have tried deleting the driver from the hardware manager and rebooting but it always comes back with the yellow "!" mark

I have the same problem. Only one dirve and it is not seeing the DVD/CD drive. I have sent an email to ACER, but they say that it will be 4-6 days before I get an email response.

is this an ide drive? have you look for the jumper, single drive on one ide have no problem, but for two drives, one must be slave and the other a master. configuring your ide connections may fixed the problem.
