Cant download to pc

Having problems downloading the pics to my pc. I'm using windows xp, i connect the cable to the camera (knowing about the cover obstructing the cable) and into the pc's usb socket, windows detects a usb device, but says its an unknown device, so theres no way of transfering the pics. this was purchased in woolworths so no chance of returning it. Please help before i try the throwing out of the window technique.

SOURCE: very poor pics on PC screen from little tikes camera

Honestly, this is a camera with very poor resolution. My I downloaded my child's photos, they looked awful. I even took my own photos and they still looked terrible.

I would try taking test photos yourself and seeing if this improves. You need to have a very steady hand and not move the camera for several seconds when taking the photos.

Can't download pics from polaroid digital camera to windows xp

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa.

Powershot A470. used to be able to download pics with no prob to my computer. Got a new pc Samsung with windows 7 (RV510) but for some reason it cant download to my old pc either.. just seems its not...

Windows7 usually use x64 bit system operation, drivers which run in windows XP or Vista can be uninstallable in Windows 7 because XP and Vista use x32 bit system operation (except certain series).
See your OS from Device Manager (Windows+PauseBreak > Device Manager), 32 bit or 64 bit. Then you can download the driver compatible with your OS from here :

For some reason now my computer wont recognise my canon powershot A560 -says something about connection.I use to get a window on view screen on my camera that i used to download pics onto computer via usb...

Windows updates changes the registry and sometimes causes our "toys" to stop working. You can contact Microsoft and get instructions to re-write your registry(very dangerous if you don't know what you're doing) or, you can do what the pros do to avoid this very common problem....get a card reader! typrice_40.jpg

Coolpix s220 won't transfer pics via usb cable

If you can get the pics using a card reader, why are you insisting on using the camera and USB cord? Pros always use a card reader.

Download Problems

Most unfortunate! Could it be the cord connecting the camera to the computer? If you have another camera able to use the same cord, you could check that out. Look carefully at the connectors on the ends of the cord for damage or dirt. Also, check the connector on the camera with a magnifying glass and see if any damage appears.

Sd600 digital camera trouble downloading pics to computer

Hmmm... Yea sometimes the pc doesn't see the added gizmo your camera. In which case, I suggest when you connect camera to computer click on "my computer" and you should see your device listed there along with your C drive & so on. Click on the camera icon & viola, you can copy the images from there to your computer. Yea I had the same experience with PS too, well Elements in particular. And there is a setting (somewhere in Elements Browser window) to turn it off. Yea to simply download images - it doesn't require any software at all with XP. I use a card reader & rarely deal with using the camera cable to computer hook up. To use that device you'll remove the card from the camera & stick in the reader & its ALWAYS worked for me. Again you'll have to click on "my computer" to find the images there. Otherwise --- next step would be to try another usb cable.
