Question about Raymarine RL80CRC Plus GPS Receiver

3 Answers

Weak Echo from ships, thunderstorms, etc.

We left Newport, RI for Annapolis in late September, our RL80CRC worked great. We left Annapolois for Norfolk arriving in late October, again all ok. We then left Norfolk for BVI's and we had a crew member who was inthrawled with the Radar & GPS. So much so, that he was continually pressing buttons trying to figure out the various things the unit could do. After a couple of days, we seemed to loose echos from passing ships or incoming rain squalls. It was our thought that he may have changed some settings. We tried to go through the manual but without success. The unit was purchased in the Spring of 2004. What  suggestions might you have to try and improve the strength of the echos?

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, to my understanding, the simplest is to turn it off, remove all power connections and all external attachments. Wait a couple of minutes, say 5~10, reconnect all, power up. May take a bit of time to re-acquire satellites and/or re-initialize. This action simulates a hard reset reverting the unit back to factory default. Any and all personalized settings/configurations may and could be erased.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

    Alternately or better yet, try first a soft reset:

    • Turn off unit;

    • press and hold the bottom right corner of the screen;

    • While still pressing and holding bottom right corner;

    • press and hold power button and continue holding both until a white screen appears with a black dot;

    • follow the on screen directions.
    Cheers.

If there's any software update for this unit you can try that to improve this device...

Sony JA20ES Tray Problem (more than a belt problem)

It is a great deck. And now you know why you should save your original shipping box.
I am having trouble believing that you cannot find a decent repair guy in the sophisticated SF area ... especially for a simple lube job. If they have the service manual they do not have to be Sony technicians (though that doesn't hurt).
How did you get the new belt in there? Did you scrupulously clean the things the belt moves on?
MD decks are designed to withstand shipping from Asia to America, so they can stand being jostled in a well-packed shipping box.
It may be too late now, but - if it was his fault - you should have contacted the East Coast guy and demanded he redo the fix.
If you trust the East Coast guy, pack it better and send it back to him.

My dryer take longer and longer to dry clothes. I

check to make sure lint trap is clean also make sure exhaust is not clogged. if both are clear than you probably need to replace your heating elements. if this the case than you need to call an appliance repair tech. trying to do it yourself could result in electricution. also make sure your drum is turning.

You did not respond to my claification request. Here is some code that might help, it copies a selection of cells going down until an emty cell is found and across until an emty cell is found. This is form an earlier version of office but should comeclose to woring in 2007.

Sub copyrange()
'
' copyrange Macro
' Macro written by Royal 11/22/2008.
'

'save the return values
wksname = ActiveSheet.Name
returncell = ActiveCell.Address
searchfor = ActiveCell.Value

'go to first worksheet and find entered value (note this is a value serach)
Worksheets(1).Activate
findfor = "A1"
On Error Resume Next

findfor = Cells.Find(What:=searchfor, After:=ActiveCell, LookIn:=xlValues, LookAt:= _
xlWhole, SearchOrder:=xlByColumns, SearchDirection:=xlNext, MatchCase:= _
False).Address
If findfor = "A1" Then
erwks = ActiveSheet.Name
Sheets(wksname).Activate
er = MsgBox("Search item not found on Worksheet" + erwks, , "Search Error")
Exit Sub
Else
findfor.Activate
End If

Cells.FindNext(After:=ActiveCell).Activate

'save this address and start searching for copy area boundaries
begcell = ActiveCell.Address
begcl = ActiveCell.Cells.Column
begri = ActiveCell.Cells.Row
'search amaximum of 1000 rows and 676 columns
endri = begri + 1000
endcl = 26 * 26
maxrow = 0
maxcol = 0

For col = Cells.Column To endcl
If Cells(begri, col) = "" Then
maxcol = col
col = endcl
ri = endri
Else
ri = begri
End If
For ri = ri To (Cells.Row + 1000)
If Cells(ri, col) = "" Then
If ri > maxrow Then
maxrow = ri
End If
ri = endri
End If
Next ri
Next col

maxrow = maxrow - 1
maxcol = maxcol - 1

'copy the selected area
endcell = Cells(maxrow, maxcol).Address
crnge = begcell & ":" & endcell
Range(crnge).Select
Selection.Copy
'go back and paste it in
Sheets(wksname).Activate
Range(returncell).Select
' use this if yo want to paste formulas etc.
'ActiveSheet.Paste
' use this code if you want to paste values instead of formulas etc.
Selection.PasteSpecial Paste:=xlValues, Operation:=xlNone, SkipBlanks:= _
