Problem with objective lens

Hi, I have a problem with my Tasco telescope, I removed the objective lens to clean it, but I didn’t pay attention to the order, and now I can´t re assemble it. I have two lenses and a plastic ring. Can you provide me with a picture or diagram of how it should be assembled?

Regards

Dear Pinyachta. Thank you very much for your help. I was able to fix my telescope following your instructions. I placed the convex lens at rear with concave side facing front and the convex lens at front and it is working perfect. Thanks again for your help.

    regards

This is an air separated doublet (invented in the 1700s). Each lens element is made of a different type of glass to reduce false color. So if you get it back together wrong you will notice the bad image. Look at the edges of the elements the thinner one usually goes in front. The concave surface of the rear element should also face front. With the plastic separation ring in place the convex surface of the front element should not come into contact with the rear element's concave surface. It shouldn't rock, there should be about 1mm air separation between them. On shorter focal length refractors (under 500mm) the front surface of the front element has less concavity that the rear surface. On longer focal lengths they are about the same. All I can say is try this and if the image isn't that great flip the front element and try it that way. And don't feel too bad we've all learned the hard way to mark the edges of the elements as we take them out. HTH

Hi ive got a galaxsee tasco telescope but im having trouble seeing anything at night, i've took all the caps off lined up on a star but its just pitch black can you help thanks.

1. During the day, point the scope towards an object and align the finder scope to the telescope.
2. First object at night should be the moon. it will verify your finderscope alignment and you should have a clear view of the moon.
3. Use your lowest power eyepiece (largest number in mm) and point the finderscope to a star. The star should be in the center of the eyepiece.. If not, adjust the finder until it and the scope are centered.
4. You can use your higher power lens on the star nd it should still be in the FOV (field of view)
5. Scope may need to be aligned (collimated). Instructions on this should be included with the scope

I cannot focus anything. Everything I see is completely black. No matter what do I can not get this contraption to work

This is a very simple refractor telescope. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the diagonal, then put the diagonal into the telescope. REMOVE the lens cap at the front.

Now practice focusing during the day time on a distant object.

I bought a used Tasco Galaxsee 45-060525 for my next door neighbor's young boys who are home-schooled to study astronomy. The lens are all foggy/cloudy. Any suggestions?

Wish you DID NOT buy this scope. Tasco, Bushnell, are both what we call "department store" telescopes.

Also the mount is called an equatorial mount. It must be polar aligned in order to use it. Read my TIP on polar alignment on my profile page.

The eyepieces can be cleaned with any eyeglass cleaning kit or photographic lens cleaning kit from a camera store. Be gentle when cleaning.

Next time buy them a scope like this one called a Dobsonian mounted reflector.

I have no manual for my galaxsee 45-060525

This is a simple small refractor telescope. Put the eyepiece with the largest number written on it into the telescope. DO NOT USE the 2 x barlow if you have one.

Practice focusing on a distant object during the daytime- you are not focusing the scope properly.

I have a tasco galaxsee 46-114375 and i do not

Here is the manual:

Why don't you locate a local Astronomy club and have the members help you with your telescope. This is a REFLECTOR style telescope with a mirror in the bottom. The focuser end is point UP == take the lens cap off, put in the eyepiece with the largest number written on it and practice focusing on a distant object during the day time.

I have a tasco 2x7x32mm which has fogged up, It is to have a lifetime warranty and am looking for information on getting it repaired?

Can you unscrew or detach the front lens? You should be able to do this.

Get some eyeglass Zeiss cleaning tissues from Wal Mart, and clean it, very gently. Brush it off first with a clean camel hair brush.

If it is fogged BETWEEN the lens then it must go back to Tasco.

This is a VERY small diameter telescope. The same size as a pair of 10x50mm binoculars. You would have a better view of the sky with the binoculars.

Tasco telescope

Look through the tube with the eyepiece out, and lens cap off. You should see light coming in. Then use the lowest power eyepiece to start. You can use it on ground objects initially until you get a hand on it. Many make the mistake of going directly to the highest power, and get off the track as the field of view is tiny, and objects are dim.

It is very difficult to align a straight telescope on small objects like stars and planets. The moon is an easy target, try locating it 1st
