Recently, when I insert a USB flash drive into my laptop's USB port, I get the message: This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a HI-SPEED USB 2.0 port.

Your laptop has USB1 port and the USB 2 message will appear if you plug an USB 2 device into this USB port.
You maybe able to upgrade the USB port to USB 2 if there is a BIOS upgrade available from the laptop manufacturer's WEB site.
If not you maybe able to get an USB 2 PCMCIA card to install into the PCMCAI slot on your laptop.

What is a hi speed usb host controller and how do i install one

Hi,
Your mainboard it? not equipped with USB 2.0 ports. If you want to upgrade your system to include Hi-Speed USB support, you must install an USB 2.0 PCI Controller. USB 2.0 allows much higher data transfer rates than the older USB 1.1 standard, using the USB 2.0 port you will copy much faster your data or access information from your flash drive, for example.

If this is the solution for your problem, please rate my post, otherwise give us more details about what you would like to know.

Regards,
Andras

HI-SPEED USB DEVICE

Here is a link to your manual

On pg 31 of your manual what are the BIOS settings displaying?

On pg 33 you want to make sure the SIS USB is enabled and that the USB 2.0 supprt is enabled.

If you have the CD that was included with your motherboard, there is a 2.0 driver that needs to be installed as well.

USB2 high speed not recognize

Try opening up the device manager and unistall everything in the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Then reboot and let windows reinstall the USB controllers. Windows should now be able to recognize properly USB2 devices.
