SOURCE: Can an old Toastmaster toaster be refurbished?

there is no manual forthe repair of toasters . but the toaster you have is a common one on e bay , i dont see one right now but there have been a few over the years , and a well used one sells for around 10.00 , it may not work but its great for parts ( i collect and restore kitchen appliances) so i would take a look . you might find a cream puff for 20 .00 and put yours into retirement ..... other than e bay there not a lot of resources out there for parts . good luck ........Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . A 1 or 2 may knock me down into the unpaid ranks. Thanks Cactus Bob

SOURCE: Toastmaster T80BC toaster will not engage when plugged in.

why do you think cancel button is broken , is it stuck ? if not you gave a bad control board . so recheck the button , and pick at it to pop back to normal . if you need a board your out of luck , no parts are made for toasters anymore . its a toss it and get a new one world . if you get 4 years out of todays toasters your doing good Please if this answer helped , please rate this 3 or 4 stars . and keep me in the paid answer department . SOURCE: toaster needs new heat coil

Find a comparable model at flea shops, yard sales, or e-bay and take the parts off and install them on yours.

Toastmaster toaster only works if i hold lever down

There is a catch on the lever that is loose or broken. You may have to dissemble it to find out. If broken, just order the part. It is pretty easy to put on.

Tp 409 smells burn when turn it on

I would advise checking the elements as well. It is possible that plastic has melted onto the elements. Try to Identify which slot the smell is strongest. If there is a spot where the elements do have some sort of foreign material melted to them, you may need to replace them.

Heating elements

I think this is a common problem with these kind of toaster ovens. Mine isn't a Toastmaster - mine is Cook's Essentials (from QVC), and my upper elements have also warped and split, although mine are curved downwards.

Toast Master Toaster TP409

if you mean the toast itself doesn't toast on one side, check that both heating elements have about the same resistance value. One could be twice as conductive as the other and not heat as much as the other side.
If you mean the other two slots don't toast, the problem could be in the switch or in the elements themselves. check carefully the continuity of the toaster across the (unplugged) ac power connector while you push the toaster load handle down on each side. If the resistance is significantly larger on the problem side, the problem is either the switch or the elements. The problem is usually with the switch becoming corroded or oxidized. The switch is supposed to be self-cleaning, that is, it wipes itself as contact is made to help remove buildup. Sandpaper both contacts until they shine copper colored. Otherwise look at the elements while toasting. dark areas mean lower wattage is being dissipated and the element may be bad near a dark spot.

Why will my Elements not turn on?

If you definitely have power at the elements, then if they are not heating they must be damaged - just check there is no cutout or safety device after the point you are testing for power. My guess is that new elements will solve the problem Please post again if you need info on getting/fitting replacements http://www.toastmastercorp.com/PDFs/Specs/toasters/FM128.pdf This link gives contact details etc. at the bottom. Hope this helps :)
