Question about Sony CDX-CA750X CD Player

1 Answer

My car fuse recently blew (which controls live feed to my player). However when I changed the fuse the player now wont light up. I know I have power because I can eject a CD and the reset button causes the player to make a whirring noise Any suggestions? thanks! Brett

Check your Ground wire on the Wiring Harness for the Stereo. If good Disconnect the Power and Ground for 5 Minutes then Reconnect. See what we have got then. Let me Know!

I am attempting to wire an original mrk3 escort radio cassette player with a non-existant wiring block in my 1981 escort. i have made up a live feed via the fuse box and a negative feed as well the thing...

First of all the positive feed will go inline with a fuse to your ignition wire down in the fuse box area, drivers side kick panel if you can locate an ignition switch wire, put a test light to the thicker wires found in the kick panel under the carpet or if visible to the eye. Usually in ford vehicles the ignition wire is RED with a Light Green stripe and 12V+ Constant is Yellow which in your case you will not use. The negative feed or black wire is ground and that will go directly to the chassis ground on the vehicle or any ground wire you can find. The remaining wires will go to your speakers. Let me know if this works for you, I need to know if you have speakers and what colors are their wires. Let me know if you get stuck.

Good luck,
Lex..

It wont turn on. theres power going into it but it wont turn on

TRY SWAPING THE RED AN YELLOW LEADS AS SOMETIMES (IE VW'S) YOU ARE USING THE CONSTANT MAIN FEED FOR THE MEMORY AND THE SWITCH FEED FOR THE POWER WHICH DEPENDANT ON THE CAR IS NOT ENOUGH TO POWER UP THE UNIT , ALSO THERE IS NORMALLY A FUSE IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD UNIT BEHIND WHERE THE LEAD PLUGS IN TRY PULLING IT OUT AND OR REPLACING IT, IF YOU HAVE A METER CHECK BOTH FEEDS ARE GETTING POWER, WORSE CASE UNIT DUFF OR IF SECOND HAND A PASSWORD MAY B IN IT

I put the head unit in & blew the fuse. I need to know which fuse to change :)

if you take out the fuses one by one you'll be able to see if the fuse is blown. if there is no wire in between connecting the two pins that plug into the panel. fuse is blown.

Connecting my cd stereo to 1990 Ford Taurus

since it worked before and you didnt change anything and now there is no power it looks like you blew a fuse when connecting wires. check the radio fuse on the door panel, and check the int. lighting fuse under the hood of the car. take both out and see if they are blown, if blown buy new fuses and replace.

heres the wiring diagram for a 1990 Ford Taurus:

Left Front (+) orange/lt green
Left Front (-) lt blue/white or Blk
Left Rear (+) pink/lt green
Left Rear (-) dk blue/ orange or Blk/Wht
Right Front (+) Wht/Lt green
Right Front (-) Dk green/ orange
Right Rear (+) pink/Lt blue
Right Rear (-) Tan/White
Lt green/yellow Hot at all times
Black - Ground
Yellow/Blk - Ignition
Lt blue/red - Acc
Orange/blk - Dimmer Lights
RED - Lights

Memory loss since changing fuse!!!

The unit will have 2 fuses, or at least a second power supply that is generally connected to continuous power, best bet is straight from the +ve batt terminal. If this power supply has been disconnected or has a blown fuse, then you will also loose memory functions from you radio.
  1. Check first under the bonnet for a memory backup fuse holder that has generally less than 1 amp fuse,
  2. no luck, then about the rear of your fuse box for a fuse holder,
  3. or worst, behind the unit up under the dash. The wire from the back of the stereo on Sonys is generally the RED one for memory backup
restoring this power supply to your stereo will then allow for all your presets to be retained in memory

Good luck, happy to talk to you more about the problem, a "FixYa" rating will help my profile

regards
Graeme
