Get some WD-40 and spray it on the tool, get those washing scrubbers and scrub it off slowly. Alternately you could use products which remove rust e.g. Evaporust or something similar.

Fix error code amana dryer

The best method is to do your home work and find error code list and service manuals inside dryer or Google it online with your model number find error codes as most are online and you must do total trouble shooting procedure and replace defective parts if necessary and after you plug the dryer it should reset it self
If dryer did not reset in other hand if error code persist you still have problem and problem could be main board issue
Best way is visual check and check for any faulty component and parts and check all thermostats and sensors and look for clogged vent or any damaged or rusty or cracked components and use step by step deduction method for trouble shooting

Old rusty tools

Hydrochloric acid, known as muriatic acid. The 20% concentrate is available in nearly any hardware store. You can leave your tools in it until the rust is broken down and dissolves.Use this in a well ventilated area as the stench can be quite bad. Also use rubber gloves and wash hands thoroughly afterwards.Wear eye protection too in case of splashes.
Once the tools are done soaking, remove and dry them, then lightly cover them in an oil or WD-40. Any moving tools such as ratchets may have to be stripped and cleaned before lubrication with grease.

The fuel pump and membrane etc. are shot. Also the fuel tank shows corrosion of rust and gunk. My mechanic says it would be cheaper to clean out the old tank rather than replace it with one i found at a...

If you have a rusty old tank, it will always be a rusty old tank. If you can find a nice tank at the junk yard great, but I would always replace the used pump and strainer no matter what. It is not an impossible job if you have the proper tools. The problem you may run into is if the fuel lines are rusted they are impossible to disconnect not to metion if the fuel tank straps are rusted where they bolt on you may not be able to get the bolts out. This vehicle is no spring chicken and you could run into a real mess. I personally hate these jobs. Do not apply heat or an open flame anywhere near the lines or tank as it can cause an explosion or an uncontrollable fire.

There are lots of models of degreasing sprays and cleaners that are available in the market whicch can be used to clean the tools, You can spray them and keep aside, then clean and repeat the prrocess till all the rust is taken out.
Use of WD40 is also very good to clean and get them to work.

1979 Yamaha TT500 old and rusty

-Take the spark plug out of it and squirt some oil down into the piston and let it sit for a week or so.
-Lubricate rusty components with wd-40.
-Take the carb off and clean well , buy a carb kit and replace the seals and gaskets as well as the needle and seat valve, this all come with the kit.
-Clean the fuel tank and check all lines for cracks.
-Check all the vacuum lines for cracks or collapsed line, replace if necessary.
-Clean all wiring connections throughly.
-Replace the spark plug with a new one, and change the oil in the crank.
This should give you a good indication if it will run or not.
Good luck.

carbs need a good cleaning. had this same problem with an 82 GS1100. cleaned the tank as best i could, you can never get all the rust tho. finally had an idea to place a couple of old car speaker magnets on the outside bottom of the tank to catch any residual rust. been 4 years now with no more problem.

How does it work?

Heat guns look a lot like hair dryers - but, as many instructions thoughtfully point out, should never be used for drying hair! The method of operation of a hot air gun is similar to a hair dryer: a fan pulls air into the body of the tool and drives it across an electric heating element and out through a nozzle. For stripping paint, the heated air is directed onto the painted surface, causing it to soften so that it can be easily stripped off - either by using a stripping knife or hook. For best results it is best to work up the surface with the heat gun above the stripping tool, softening the paint just before the stripping tool reaches it. The tool is used one-handed, with the other hand to hold the stripping tool. Some heat guns can be used sitting on a bench so that two hands are free to use the hot air for other applications.
