SOURCE: PC does not recognise TomTom

Dont use a HUB, connect it directly to the PC.

Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.

If this doesn't help.
contact them about the problem...

Why doesn't scanner recognise usb connection

What type of device are you trying to connect to the scanner? The USB connection might not be working because the scanner can't register the device. It might also be a bad USB port. Have you tried a different device in that same port?

Printer and computer not communicating

Reinstall the printer drivers again and see if the problem corrects itself or if you prefer roll the computer back to when the printer worked using System Restore. If this fails to correct the Issue time may have come for a printer upgrade unless this is a high end business printer, then have it repaired, home units are dirt cheap right now.

How to update map

I helped a buddy update his Uniden GPS (Trax350). Simply follow these steps and you should be done.

Uniden's MapTrax350 GPS device accepts voice-command programming and provides detailed audio commands, as well, speaking aloud the map directions that are displayed on its screen. Keeping your Trax350's firmware updated is crucial to keeping it working correctly. Usually, you can go to a company's website and download the latest software, but with Uniden, you must register your product first to access the proper free upgrades. It takes minutes.

Instructions

things you'll need: USB cable

1 Navigate to the link in the Resources section and fill in the required fields. Click on "Register."
2 Turn on your device and connect it to the computer using its USB cable.
3 Log in to the site with the password that was sent to your email address after you registered the device.
4 Choose "Software Upgrades." Select the MapTrax350 device, and the latest firmware upgrade will appear. Click "Download."
5 Select "Save File" and choose a location on your computer to save it to. After it has downloaded, double-click the program icon, select "Run" and follow the prompts to update your Trax350.

Good luck!

Brother printer will not recognise usb cable I can load printer onto laptop through usb cable now want to load onto dell pentium 4 and keeps coming up does not recognise usb cable so keeps asking you to...

Try a new cable and a different USB port. It's possible dirt is making for a bad connection or that the cable is slightly damaged and this other computer is more sensitive to the problem.

I hope this helps.

My cruzer 4 mb usb stick is suddenly not recognized by the computer

this may have many causes. first possibility: the stick is dead and needs replacement. second: there may be a problem with the usb-port or -controller. if you connect a different usb device to the same port as the stick, and it's recognised, the usb- port is fine and it surely will be the stick which is broken. if the other device isn't recognised either, it's a usb related problem. in this case you should verify if all settings for usb in the BIOS are enabled, if the usb-controller in device manager has been installed supposedly. if not, reinstall, reboot and try again. if this does not work, you need to replace your computer's system board

"USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED"

Try this first...
  1. Unplug everything connect to a USB port on your PC.
  2. Open up the device manager (in Start/Run/devmgmt.msc)
  3. Click on the + next to ''Universal Serial Bus Controllers'' to expand it.
  4. Right-click on each item in the list and select ''Uninstall''.
  5. Once all items listed under ''Universal Serial Bus Controllers'' have been uninstalled; restart the system.
  6. Once the computer restarts and comes up to the desktop, plug your USB devices back in one at a time. You should see a ''New Hardware Found'' message in the lower right corner of the screen. After you do this you should get your devices back. If not then most likely your USB device or the USB controller on your motherboard are bad.
Otherwise, it may have finally died on you. USB flash drives are not as durable as internal drives on your computer and will fail if used a lot, a lot sooner than the bigger drives. If you can somehow get your computer to recognize it, copy all data you can off of your drive and any files you have problem with, I recommend you install data recovery software Recuva by Piriform and attempt to recover any data you can on it if it will allow you to.
