Question about RCA P61927 61" Rear Projection Television

Help! Menu options missing!

So we moved today, and (though this TV has been moved several times before) somehow the projectors were knocked out of alignment. So, I downloaded the manual and it says to go to "Menu" and then "Screen" and then the convergence setting. The only issue is that when I go to the screen menu, the option to adjust convergence is just MISSING. I called the RCA folks and they had no idea why that would be. Their advice was "try unplugging it and plugging it back in." This didn't work. Am I going to have to pay someone to manually go in and adjust them? I can see through the back that the projectors are motorized, so they must be designed to control from the remote/menu. Why would these options be missing? In fact, as I see in the manual there should be several convergence related options under "screen" but they are all missing. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Matt

I have a RCA HD61W66, the colors are not aligned. I get three images, one in each of the three colors. The convergence option is also missing on the menu.

Many of the RCA's have a pico fuse that feeds the convergence board. If these have blown there will be no 24 volt supply to the convergence board.

Hello. How do I invert the image on a Toshiba TLP-2000 EDU Projector. Many thanks, Paul

Go into the setup menu.
One of them is the picture or positioning menu.
There are normally 4 options,
front projection standard / inverted.
rea projection standard / inverted.
dont move the projector whilst on or bulb is warm as bulb is very fragile at that time.

Somehow the image is upside down on the smartboard

This is a setting in your projector. It's setup so you can hang the projector upside down or set it right-side up on a table. It's in the menu options under display I think.

Why is image upside down? the image appears inverted on the board

You need to set up the image using the menu. Press menu button on the remote then use the arrows to go down the list until you come to "mirror". Now press the enter button on the remote several times to cycle the orientation of the image (on some remotes you may have to use the right arrow button instead of the enter button). The projector will remember this setting next time it is switched on. These options are there for people who use ceiling mountings that hold the projector upside down.

Can changing settings delete the memory card?

It's no problem at all to get them back. Please see this post for several free software that you can download. You'll need to use a card reader with these programs though:

Sylvania SST4272

I had the same problem with a Sylvania SRT2227S. I kept trying to fix it using the remote but after reading your posting I pressed the Volume (down) button, which cycled through the same menus you mentioned. Then I pressed the Power button on the TV and that fixed it.

The problem started for me when pressed PIP, CC, and Guide buttons on a Philips universal remote control. My TV does not support these functions and it seems to put it in this "service mode". Now I can fix it by pressing Volume (down) or Menu then the Power button on the TV (do not use the remote as it is useless when the TV is in this mode). I hope this works for you too.

Pip position

Hi there

The PIP ( picture in picture ) is only to determine where the Menu block itself will show on your screen.

Try the Vertical and Horisontal shift in the Menu Options.

Convergence problem

We need a better description of what you mean by shadowing. However I am assuming: 1. You mean it ''bleeds'' off to the right when you have something with a hard red/blue drive. 2. When you turn the contrast and color down a bit it gets better. unfortunatly I cannot tell you how to fix convergence, but I can think of some other possibilities. In this case the red/blue emmision of the crt is dying off and going into saturation when driven hard. To fix, replace with a new picture tube/crt. In some cases you can get a little more life out of that tube (with a watchable picture) by having the screen, focus, cathode bias, and drives slightly readjusted. It will take someone with experience in doing these adjustments on a weak tube to get it looking as good as possible. Given the construction of the cathodes (guns) in that crt, only a very low level crt reactivate should be tried on it. The hard rejuv most crt testers give is highly likley to completely destroy the cathode on that crt.
