Email and Web browsing software have default font settings that are sufficient to start using the software in most cases. People that have trouble seeing standard fonts on the computer screen, and others that wish to create a unique "look" to their email and Web browsing experience can use the features provided with the software to change the font according to their needs. Change the font type and font size on AOL 9.0 and later versions of AOL software using configuration tools provided with the software. Open the AOL software and click the "Settings" icon in the toolbar at the top of the AOL software window. Select the "A-Z Index" tab and then click the "Font and Text" or "Font and Text Settings" link located in the "F" section displayed.Select the first drop down box on the left most side of the tool bar located under the "Font and Text Settings" header. Click a font name in the drop down box and then view the font in the text box located immediately below the font drop down box. When you are satisfied with the font selected, proceed to the next step.Click the drop down box to the immediate right of the font drop down box and select a number that represents the font size. View the text in the text box below the drop down box to view the size of the font after making the change. Once you are satisfied with the font size, proceed to the next step.Select the "A" icon located to the right of the font size drop down box and select a font color from the list displayed. Click the "B" icon if you wish to display the font in bold. Click the "I" icon if you wish to display the font in italics.Click the "Small," "Medium" or "Large" text size that you prefer to have displayed in the AOL software. These options are located under the "Where possible, display the following size of text on AOL" header. Click the "Save" button to save the settings.

AOL Mail is an email service provided to the customers of American Online as well as Web users.

When you print an email using AOL Mail software, you may notice that the font size either appears too small or too large.

AOL Mail gives you the flexibility to adjust the font size and thus, the size of the print.

Note that these instructions apply to AOL 9.0 or higher.

If you have an old edition, follow instructions from the link specified under Resources.

Launch your AOL Mail software from the Start menu or desktop shortcut.

Log in using your AOL screen name and password.

Click "Settings" on the top bar.

Click "Font and Text."

Click the font type drop-down menu to choose either a larger or smaller font type than the current one.

Click the font size drop-down menu to choose either a larger or smaller font size based on your preference.

Click "Save."

Hope this helps

SOURCE: my sister changed the font size on her laptop and

Hi, in the case where you are unable to read anything on the screen, I would suggest you to boot your computer in Safe Mode and either restore your computer to previous settings or just change the Font size once again to the default from the Display settings.
Link for :How to boot computer in Safe Mode.
If you are using Windows XP:

  1. Right-click an open area of the Windows Desktop and then click "Properties" to open the "Display Properties" window.

  2. Click the "Appearance" tab.

  3. In the drop down list labelled "Font Size", select the desired size.

  4. Click "OK" to save the change and exit the "Display Properties" window.
Alternatively you can lower your screen resolution to check the font status as well.
For Vista, its pretty simple to change the Font size. Open Control Panel > Personalize. On the left side of the window you will find "Adjust Font size (DPI). Here you can change to larger DPI or you can use Custom settings as well.
However as I told you earlier, you can restore your computer to earlier settings when it was working fine for you. To restore, Click on Start Menu > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Choose a restore point created by your computer of earlier date and click on next to restore your computer.
Hope you will be able to get the things right.

On Aol, I wish to change the font from 12 to 14 permanently not just for one "reply", ie, I want the default to be 14, not 12, is there a way to do this ??

1) Click on the Settings button at the top of the AOL window.
2) Click on Font and Text.
3) Click on Font.
4) Click on the Down Arrow next to: Arial, then click on Times New Roman or whatever font you want.
5) Click on the Down Arrow next to 10 or whatever the font size is, and then click on the 12 or 14 or whatever font size you want. (The larger the number, the larger the font size.)
6) Under Text Settings, click on ₪ Small, ₪ Medium or ₪ Large [click on only one of these] for "Where possible, display the following size of text on AOL."
Note: This will change the font size for everything other than e-mail, chat messages and instant messages. (In other words, for web pages or for the general AOL pages.) 7) Click on Save.
8) Close the Font & Text window by clicking on the X button in the upper right-hand corner of the window.

How do I increase the font size regarding my aol in box mail?

The same thing happened to me. All of a sudden, the email inbox and saved favorite places lists have changed to a crummy small font & the letters "bleed" together. Very difficult to read & there's no way to change it! Grrr!!

How to change font size

A recent comment about small fonts in AOL Desktop prompted me to explain how to increase the size of your fonts in your Windows Operating System. AOL Desktop will recognize your preferred OS font size so that text throughout the program will be larger. (To increase your browser font size, which is handled separately, go to the Tools menu in the AOL Desktop browser, choose "Power Browsing" and go to "Page Display".) To set the font size in your Operating System (warning: this will apply to all your other applications, not just AOL), go to your Display Properties in Windows XP / Personalization Settings in Windows Vista. On XP, you can right-click on your PC desktop background and choose "Properties", then select the "Appearance" tab". Look for the "Font Size" menu at the bottom, and choose the dropdown for your preferred font size (e.g. normal, large, and extra large). In the screenshot below, you'll see the steps I just described below. I'm running "Large Fonts" so you can see how it impacts my window chrome...

I use AOL on my Mac. Can not change the font size on outgoing mail. How do I fix this?

LOL, no wonder. Are they still around? They've been bought and sold so much that I thought they were completely stripped.

Get into your AOL email and look for a help option somewhere while in the email client.
