I have a 60' smart vizio tv and sometime the sound goes out. If you change the channel and go back the sound comes back. Can this be the tv or something else?

Never heard of this problem, but a similar issue seems to be the auto surround sound or TruSurround, whatever it's called. Try disabling that and see if it keeps your audio constant. I disable it on almost every TV I've gotten that had it; sometimes it sounds almost muted otherwise.

Hello, it sounds like your inverter board is goin out on the set, when you change channels if you notice on almost any TV the screen goes dark and the new channel appears, it sounds like you are not getting enough power out of the inverter board to power up the backlight enough to come on. This is why the sound remains because everything else works fine and the sound is connected to the main board.

Black box comes up on tv screen

The black box is a text box for closed captioning. Some stations send the signal which turns on the box while not actually broadcasting any text. Go into your setup menu and turn off closed captioning, or at least change it to a different mode. The easiest option is to restore factory presets.

Yamaha Receiver loses audio when changing DTV stations

I believe changing stations is triggering the protection on receiver. When you go to another input and back you give time for the protection circuitry to release speakers again. Try muting your receiver before changing channels. Good luck!

GE 32GT740 32" TV problem

there are two things that can cause this, 1 there is a muting transistor on the bottom of the PCB that is a surface mount transistor that goes short. this is the channel mute transistor. when you change channels it is designed to mute the static between channel changes. if it shorts then it mutes. 2 the EE-PROM is defective and needs to be replaced. i'de go with the transistor first. if you are unequipped to do this repair have a tech do it.
