Question about Lexmark X1240 All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Hideous Color My color prints come out w/ way too much green. The prints were brillant up until a couple of months or so ago. I've tried cleaning the terminals on the printer and the cartridge but no luck. This is w/ both web printing and document printing. This printer is less than two years old!!!

I 'can' help you to get this resolved. Unfortunately there is no quick trick to solve your problem. We will have to do a complex troubleshooting routine on your printer using email alerts to content written by both of us via this trouble ticket page you are now looking at.

This could take some time to accomplish. I took a quick look over at Lexmark on your printer model and your printer model may not be Vista ready.

So, please let me know what Operating System you have, XP or Vista or something older like W2K. OK?

If you have received an error number provide that or if in the steps below you do receive an error number let me know what that is.

To start with, I'd suggest you begin with the below from the Tools, Maintenance options at the printer.

Clean the heads and do a print alignment. Use the lexmark Control Center, by accessing the Tool Icon (looks like a wrench) and then access the Maintenance menu and run maintenance on your color cartridges.

Once that is done, check the printer properties by going to the Start Menu, Control Panel, Printers and Faxes or a similar title in Vista. Here is where you can set the system wide printer properties such as the default Paper Type. An incorrect paper type in a print job can
cause this problem you have. So, make certain the paper type matches your paper in the tray. Avoid using the Print Icon in your applications and drop the file menu down and then select Print, this gives you a chance to then click on the Printer Properties button where you can change the paper type for the paper you are using for the type of image you are printing; text with color, text with photo, photo, enhanced photo and so on.

Give that a go and report back using the comment box below your results and findings. Then we can take this up from there.

    Regards,
    Worldvet

I've installed color cartridge but it won't print in color

Try to re-insert the color cartridge into the printer and make sure it is properly seated in the cartridge carrier.
If that doesn't help, try to clean the print nozzles. Please follow the steps below:
1. Press Copy. 2. Press Options until Maintenance appears on the display. 3. Press the right arrow until Clean Cartridges appears on the display. 4. Press Select. A nozzle page prints, forcing ink through the nozzles to clean the clogged nozzles. 5. Print your document again to verify that your print quality has improved.

Xerox Phaser 8550 is printing green and yellow with some gray color on all the print job, even after I replaced the ink loader, the black color came back but still getting only green and yellow. The ink...

Try printing a light stripes test page (Troubleshooting, print quality problems, troubleshooting print quality page).
If you have loads of missing jets, run a couple of head cleans, if you see improvement, it is worth running some more, if not, try switching off overnight and rebooting next day. If it still won't clear, you may have a faulty printhead.
If you do not appear to have many missing jets but the colours are all just wrong it may be that the ink has gone stale. Run a couple of head cleans and you should see the colours start to improve. If it is getting better, all you can do is keep running head cleans until you have replenished all the ink in the printhead well.
Hope this helps.

Canon MP 730 prints wrong color tones

I was having a similar problem-- what was happening was the print cartridge head seemed to be letting the colors leak into each other. (the science behind this is beyond me!)-- I noticed that instead of being cyan/magenta/yellow, my yellow cartridge had actually turned green, magenta was picking up blue and was turning purple, etc etc. I ended up replacing the printer's printhead and all the color cartridges and then it worked.
You can order printheads online.
Not sure if this fixes the original reason why they got all mixed up in the first place-- if the printer will continue to allow the print head to leak the colors into each other-- but hopefully that's a fixit!

Kodak 5300 print quality

The problem is in your printhead in which the cartridges sit on.

You will need to contact Kodak for a replacement print head. Once replaced this will correct your issue.
