Had rear struts replaced on 1991 chevy lumina Euro They left out rubber inserts by bottom 2 bolts on strut. What is the rubber insert and is this going to be a problem? Car drives fine. Thanks

the rubber insert is what stops the knocking sound over every bump
it will eventually cause mount failure
take it back and have them do the job properly

Squeakibg steering.

I would take an oil can and oil all moving parts. You should do this every so often except on rubber inserts. If you have rubber inserts they could be worn out and need replacing.

Oil leaking from under the oil filler cap. Suspect clogged PCV valve and/or flame arrestor. WHERE are they, and HOW do I get to it/them?

240 /740 Engine In between #s 3 & 4 fuel injector you will see a rubber cover on the PVC valve which is plastic. Prise out the rubber cap then remove the plastic insert there is a plastic diffuser there about one inch across this will be blocked. Remove it and replace it The actual rubber tube from the Crank Case to this plastic insert There is a form of Vacuum line attached to it also. I would replace the rubber tube also as they usually go very brittle after all the years of service and simple disentergrate. Clean the diffuser which will be blocked as sure as eggs, if not, as above replace it. Its another PIA but it should have been done during one of the Planned maintaince services. When removing the Vacuum line off the PVC valve, be careful not to break it This engine loves vacuum lines to be 100%.

The rear window wiper blade holder is rusted how do I remove it for replacement?

Three things you can replace depend on your budet
1) you can replace whole wiper blabe assembly by lift up the cover at the bottom end of the bale assembly and un-screw the nut and raplace whole assembly with arm , wiper insert etc ... with the new one This way cost you more.
2) on hte middle of the whole wiper blade assy has the flexible section, you can un-screw 2 small philipe pan head screw with screw driver and disconnect the top section with the wiper blade insert (rubber)
3) slide wiper blade insert out of the holder, becareful with 2 small steel blade will hole your rubber insert inside the wiper frame. Slide new rubber insert in the frame .

How do you replace the windshield wipers on a Honda Elemen, I know this is pretty basic...

You should be able to purchase from the dealer just the rubber inserts, not the complete wiper. Look on the end of the wiper insert and it should be "locked" in by a tab into the rubber. Pull on this end of the insert and it should slide out of the wiper frame. In either side of the old rubber insert should be a thin steel reinforcing insert, remove these and reinstall them into the new rubber inserts. Now guide the new rubber inserts into the wiper and be sure to make sure that tab locks into the rubber insert.

2005 Jeep liberty, shift stick seems loose (twists from L to R). Is this just a linkage prob? If I remove console will I be able to fix the problem.

well actually - the '05 6 speed libby has a rubber mount between the handle and the transmission. These come loose (dumb design too) just lift up the boot carefully with a flat screw driver - pull it up as high as you can without tearing it and you'll see the stick is welded to a round piece with a rubber insert. replace that rubber isolator - or in my case I glued it and re-inserted it - still has the softer feel - but it's not sloppy anymore. A real fix would be to get a machine shop make a aluminum sleeve to replace the rubber insert.

moz-screenshot.jpg
  1. REMOVE RR WIPER BLADE
    1. Raise the rear wiper blade to the position as shown in the illustration where the meshing of the claw disengages with a clicking sound. NOTE: Be careful not to break the claw.
    2. Pull straight the rear wiper blade to vehicle's left from the wiper arm. NOTE: Do not fold the rear wiper arm with the rear wiper blade removed from it.1722d05.gif

  1. REMOVE REAR WIPER RUBBER
    1. Place the rear wiper with the rear end of the rubber protruded from the blade stopper as shown in the illustration. NOTE: Do not pull out the wiper rubber forcibly, as the backing plates will become deformed or the blade claws will become damaged. HINT: The rubber can be easily pulled out by pushing the middle area of the blade.

  1. INSTALL REAR WIPER RUBBER
