Try checking your ecu fuse under the hood near the right side of the motor sometimes replacing a battery it will pop some fuse when not being careful

Thanks for your suggestion but it was not a fuse. Found the solution elsewhere which was to relock the doors and then open again with the key which shows the alarm system you have 'authorized' access. Then repeat the jumper cable process. It took 2 1/2 hours to charge the battery!

I changed the radiator in my 1998 Volvo V70, after installing the new radiator and reconnecting all the connectors, the care won't crank or turn over. tried to jum car with no success; lights and radio...

sounds like the ground cable is not hooked to the motor, see there is one for the frame and one for the motor and your trying to start it using the frame ground and will burn up the frame ground and have a whole new problem. quick check is to hook the jumper cable to the ground on the battery then to the engine block, bet it starts up.

On a 1997 volvo s90, where is the gear position sensor located ? Can a non mechanic install that part ?

you need lift the car and

Unclip HO2S lead from transmission member and oil pan and open HO2S connectors.
  • Remove front exhaust pipe.
  • Remove front heat shield.
  • Ensure that gear selector lever is in neutral (position N)
  • Loosen sensor enough to turn it sideways. Mount gauge 999 5475 on gear selector shaft outside nut.

VOLVO s90 1997 clicking noise from wheel area

If it happens only on turns then its the outer axle cv joint.. If it happens all the time probably something stuck in a tire. Either way have the suspension visually inspected by a technician as soon as possible.
