Question about Bose Cinemate Digital Home Theater System Speaker

1 Answer

Simply doesn't work

I received the Bose Cinemate for Christmas and I have plugged it into 3 different TV's with absolutely no response from the speakers. I can plug in other speakers and they work just fine. I plug in the Bose system and nothing, nothing, nothing. I've check the connections. I've checked the audio outputs on the TV. The Bose system has all the correct lights on it, but no sound comes out...at all. A very expensive door stop. Worthless.

The only contact with which I am familiar was made by a friend of mine who had received one of the original Bose receivers. Some six weeks later, she learned that they had become available with a CD player so she called Bose customer service and although she was not the original purchaser (her son had given it to her on a birthday), they immediately offered to accept the unit back and she paid only the difference between the two units.
I've heard other good reports about the company's attitude toward customers so I wouldn't hold back from calling them on their toll-free number that is probably in your literature.
Good luck, and it would be helpful if you would post back your experience (good or bad) with them to help guide others.

I am having a Bose Cinamate Digital Home Theater. Original remote of this was lost and bought a new Bose Solo/cinemate system universal remote. It doesn't function with the interface. Will it real

If you can't get this to work, I suggest you try to return the remote and buy and harmony remote. For me it worked very well with everything including old audio amps and you can configure your own activities.

The Panasonic TV I have only has a digital audio out. How do I make it work with the cinemate plug system?

Whatever componenets you have, satellite receiver, DVD Bluray, etc. should be hooked to tv for both audio and video, referrably by HDMI, then you can hook you digital optical out from tv to digital in on your Bose system. If you have component in to tv you can use that to but, you will ahve to provide audio tp tv through Ditgital in or composite cables(red, white, RCA)

I have a Bose Cinemate System and a new LG Plasma TV that it will not work with. The Bose system connects using red and white RCA connectors and needs it to be plugged into an Audio Out. The only Audio Out...

If you're using a Cinemate for HDTV listening you're missing out on multichannel sound. However, since it only supports analog 2-channel audio AND a TV or monitor is NOT a meaningful contributor to the listening experience, maybe you could extract the TV audio from the cable box where it ultimately originates in the first place. I'm sure it has a convenient and compatible RCA pair.

I just received a Bose CineMate for Christmas. I can hook it up to my TV fine but I want to have my CD player use the speakers too, how do I do this?

The cinemate is for the user who wants simplicity in their video watching and not much more. You would have to substitute the TV input cables with the CD cables. Or you could get a pair of RCA Y-adapters to allow simultaneous conenction of both but I'd advise you to keep one of the two sources turned off while listening to the other.

How can I hook up my Bose cinemate on my Philips HD tv when no there is no Audio out and I want to use it for my dvd player, cable box, and video systems?

You don't need to send audio TO a TV. I's a TV, not a source of anything. Many of us use monitors (no TV speakers). The Bose speakers are presumably superior to the TV speakers so whatever the TV is watching (cable/sat/dvd) shuld have its own audio.

Page 11.

If your TV does not have any audio output jacks, you can connect the CineMate™ speaker

system to the audio output jacks of another source, such as a DVD player or cable/satellite

box. However, you will hear sound only from the connected source through your CineMate
speakers.

Trying to connect to LG 60 inch plasma. no output

Hi.

You need to connect the Bose using the Optical Audio output from TV to Bose main unit (kind of square shaped connector), and not using the RCA inputs on TV.

The picture below is an LG back panel, the optical audio connector is at the lower side of I/O connections at the back of TV, on some model the location of connector may be different.

Bose cinemate will not power on. light stays red?

Make sure your system is not plugged into a surge protector. Sometimes a surge protector will foul the system up, don't know why. lol. I fought with my system for 3 hours trying to get it to work, then moved it from my surge protector to the wall and it came on. If that doesn't work, try disconnecting the receiver module itself, wait 60 sec, then plug it back in. If that still does not solve the problem, I would suggest calling Bose Customer Service..

Connecting my HDTV to my Bose Cinemate

If your BOSE system only has one audio input you will have to connect everything to your tv and like the other guy said there will be an audio out on the back of your tv, connect that to your BOSE and when you switch inputs on your tv it should send that audio to your speaker setup.
