Some of these sets in the menu have a Hall setting etc that will do exactly that sounds in the background and louder then people talking--its a audio or setup selection in many sets.

SOURCE: secondary audio drowns out primary audio

if you are using a surround sound receiver for your audio, you need to change the surround mode. i like mine set up for dolby pro logic. there are many different settings on the new recievers so experiment until you find one that you like.
if your sound comes only through the tv, use the audio menu and set it to stereo, although with some brands "surround" will get rid of this problem

You need a mixer. Connect the microphone to the mixer and also the background music. That way you have separate control of volume for the voice and the music.
The background noise can come from different sources. One of them is from the laptop itself, if the laptop is noisy to begin with.

Do a factory reset to this set. Refer its user manual for details. You haven't provided any more details about your TV, ie, brand name and model number, etc; here, so I can't provide you more details.

I have a Bose lifestyle 38 and whenever I watch a show with a lot of background sound - ie music in a movie or crowds cheering for sports, it overwhelms the voices of the actors or the sports casters. How...

What makes background sound comes out from Bose lifestyle 38 system is because there is jack cable or a cable that has a jack mouth that brings out a mono sound is being inserted..

Mono cables, when inserted inside a wrong input,it's makes the sound comes out with a background noise just like the one you can hear from it now..it seems as if you are not using the right cable for connection..

To resolve these issue, you will need to use the right cable for connection, by doing these, you will get a clearer sound from you Bose lifestyle 38..

Also it can be from the settings inside the Bose lifestyle 38...So you will need to check both sides to resolve this issue..

You will need to use the manual to know the right cable and the right setting for clear volume..

You can download the user's guide from the below link..

Hope it helped.

When i play a game such as Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the Xbox 360. The sound works, like you can hear the water flowing, aircraft etc etc, all that is is fine. But when it comes to audio of different ...

Most of the sounds you are hearing good are background sounds. If you are running a surround system, you might want to try adjusting the output of your primary speakers, checking for the correct setting on your receiver, and verifying that your central audio is in the correct section ( receiver output ).

If you are not using surround sound,
Check the in-game menu (Pause) for an audio section, some games allow you to turn the character voices up and the music down. If you don't have that option, try using a new output cord from your xbox to Tv.

Voice volume is low compared to background music volume on AVR-2808CI

Could be a number of things.
Most likely your surround sound mode. Some people dont like Dolby. Try to switch to 5 channel stereo.
Other option is to turn the center channel speaker channel volume up. Voices and dialog come from the center channel speaker in Dolby modes. Post back if you need instructions.
Please rate my solution.
