General Electric GE SmartWater heater problem

I purchased a General Electric GE SmartWater heater in July 2006 from Home Depot and it was working good till today that I found out it is leaking. Is this something that can be fixed or it needs to be replaced? Is this a common problem of this product?

Most units from GE come with a 3 year manufactures warantee and the home depot should have no probleme giving you a new one off the shelf with your receipt they will send it back and get there money back from GE so they pass it on to you. it would cost you the same amount to fix that one then to buy a new but yours is still under warantee untill july. hope it works out for you.

How do i test my elements to see if there good?

get a $5 voltage/ohmmeter testor from home depot or likewise and check for "continuity" with the setting on OHMs...place one terminal on one screw of the element, and the other terminal on the other screw of the element(MAKE SURE THE POWER IS OFF TO THE WATER HEATER--YOU DO NOT WANT TO FEEL 240 VOLTS PASS THRU YOU!) you are looking for resistance to flow---if your ohmmeter's needle raises or digitals are shown, then you have resisatance to flow which means there is no breakage in the element and electricity can pass thru the whole element and work to heat your water---if you get no reading then you have no resistance to flow because there is a break in the element and it won't work anymore

My ge smartwater was running very slow ao i changed all three filters, now it runs normally for a couple of seconds then it just trickels out.

The tank was full of water . The blatter in the tank was empty so I pumped six pounds of air into it and it works great.
