You may download a copy of the manual at http://www.home-electronics.net/ge/pc/IB/29490GE2_IB.pdf.

The 29490 isn't an answering machine. To set up the voicemail, please consult the documentation for whatever answering machine or voicemail system you have on your phone line.

Call forwarding is a service provided by your telephone company. With many systems, dial * 7 2, wait for a second dial tone, then dial the number to forward to. Answer that other phone to confirm. Dial * 7 3 to cancel. If these instructions don't work then contact your telephone company for their instructions regarding call forwarding.

I have a VTECH phone model Vt 1122 and I do not have manual still and I need to know how to insert numbers in memory.

You can get the manual here. Here's what it says about storing numbers:

Storing a Phone Number in the One-Touch Memory Locations
  1. Lift the handset.
  2. Press the PROG button.
  3. Dial the telephone number you want to store (up to 16 digits).
  4. Press the one-touch button (M1, M2, M3) where you want to store the number.
  5. Hang up the handset.

Storing a Phone Number in the Two-Touch Memory Location
  1. Lift the handset
  2. Press the PROG button.
  3. Dial the telephone number you want to store (up to 16 digits).
  4. Press the MEM button.
  5. Press the dial button (0 to 9) where you want to store the telephone number.
  6. Hang up the handset.
Please take a moment to rate this solution if it's what you needed. Thanks for using Fixya!

I need to know how to program the numbers into the speed dial option. My mother's phone is a table set with large numbers #29267A ... close enough?

Before you store a telephone number in memory, make sure the dialing mode is
correctly set for the type of service you have. The default dialing mode is tone
(touch-tone), so if you have pulse (rotary) service, you must first change the dialing
mode. See “To Set the Dial Mode.” The following buttons can be stored into any
memory location: 0-9.
STORING FREQUENTLY CALLED NUMBERS
1. Pick up the handset.
2.Press the store button.
3. Push the desired memory location button.
4. Press the store button.
5.Use the handset number keys to enter the telephone number (up to 16-digits)
and press the store button.
6.Hang up the handset.
NOTE: If you make a mistake, use the delete button to delete wrong digits.
CHANGING A STORED NUMBER
Repeat the storage sequence above. The new number replaces the old number at
the memory location.
ERASING A STORED NUMBER
1. Pick up the handset.
2.Press the store button.
3.Press the memory location (0-9) to be erased.
4.Press delete for three seconds until the number in the display is erased.
5.Hang up the handset.
DIALING FREQUENTLY CALLED NUMBERS
1. Pick up the handset and press the mem button.
2. Press 0-9 for the memory location. The number dials automatically.
OR
1. Pick up the handset and press the dial button.
2. Press the review button for the desired memory location.
3. Press the dial button to dial the number.
OR
1. Press dial button while the handset is still in the cradle.
2. Press the review button for the desired memory location, lift the handset and the
number dials automatically.

Need manual

Given that consumer telephones are inexpensive, the cost of repairing the speaker phone on the 960 (assuming you still have it) is probably not worth it.

Going off of my memory....to program a speed dial you would first press "Program", enter the telephone number you want stored and then press the one of the memory buttons to save the number to. If the number is to be saved on a lower memory position press "Lower" before you press the memory button.

AT&T's telephone product website has a section where user manuals for many AT&T and Lucent branded telephones.

http://telephones.att.com/telephones_ui/support/dsp_manuals_list.cfm

The 960 is no longer listed, but the many of the basic functions are similar to the 922.
