When the Siemens Microwave oven is not being used the plate rotates inside. Once the microwave door is opened the plate stops rotating. When the food/drink is placed on the plate and the microwave heat setting is turned on the plate remains stationary which obviously results in uneven heating.

I wonder if this is an inverter-based model... I ask because on Panasonic/Quasar units, a problem with the magnetron or inverter will cause this very symptom.
If so, because of the voltages and currents involved, I do not recommend that someone without experience attempt repairs on an inverter circuit.
I would contact the manufacturer at the number in your owner's manual to find the nearest authorized servicer.

If your
oven door has gotten bent or warped (maybe you rested something heavy
on it…), you need to remove the door, disassemble it, and straighten
it. You can lift most oven doors off of their hinges by opening the
door several inches to its first "stop," and lifting the entire door
straight up.
If the hinges have become worn, damaged, or bent,
you probably need to replace them. We recommend replacing both hinges
at the same time, to prevent uneven wear of the undamaged hinge.

Sounds like a faulty thermal cutout switch. Take it to a repairer.
