RX-V473 YAMAHA receiver at initial setup can't get past go

A message appeared on switching on the unit first time: "Remote ID- ID2. Turning and connecting speakers, TV and PVR as per instructions and switching on again, the main activating startup menu appeared and asked to press startup on the remote. This message appeared: "Remote ID mismatch". Do I reset the remote code, there are 2 in the manual ID 1&2 with code numbers given but which one, or do I do something else?

problem solved by resetting the remote control code to ID2 using 4digit code number in the manual for ID2. Just required some lateral thinking

SOURCE: Yamaha HTR-5990 Receiver

I JUST EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION HERE IS THE SOULTION YAMAHA SENT ME TO RESET THE SYSTEM HTR-5990 YAMAHA HTR-5990 FACTORY PRESET PROCEDURES All models require the STANDBY/ON button to be turned OFF to start the reset process. NOTE: The remote control cannot be used during the reset procedure. All necessary buttons to complete the reset process are located on the front panel of the receiver. This procedure is not intended to correct intermittent shut-off symptoms or problems MODEL: HTR-5990 (U.S.A. model/s) (BEFORE YOU CONTINUE, PLEASE READ THE ABOVE NOTES!) 1. Before you start this procedure, locate the MASTER ON/OFF button and the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button on the Front Panel of the unit. 2. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR RECEIVER’S MASTER ON/OFF HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. 3. With the Right Hand, press and hold the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button. With the Left Hand, press the MASTER ON/OFF button and HOLD both buttons for no more than “3” SECONDS, AT THE SAME TIME. SP IMP. * 8 MIN. will appear on the display, which indicates you are in the Diagnostics Mode. 4. Rotate the PROGRAM KNOB to the right (ONCE) until the display reads PRESET *CANCEL. 5. Press the STRAIGHT/EFFECT button (ONCE) and the display will change to PRESET RESET. 6. Turn the unit off by pressing the MASTER ON/OFF button. 7. Wait 5 seconds, then turn the unit on by pressing the MASTER ON/OFF button. You have now reset your component to the factory settings. NOTE: Yamaha receivers don’t have to be reset during normal operation. It is not recommended that you reset the receiver unless a setting has been changed that you are not aware of, or the receiver is not operating properly. The reset procedure will clear an incorrect setting that might be causing abnormal operation. GOOD LUCK

SOURCE: Samsung SWA-4000 Wireless connection problem - Not connecting with main unit

I have had the same problem with the wireless unit and thought the same, it didn't work. The way to fix this is simple. You need to do the 0, 1, 3, 5 on the remote and turn on the home theatre system on the main switch on the front panel (as I was doing this on the remote, and it was failing). The blue light should then stay illuminated. If not just switch the main on/off button again, and it shoud work.

SOURCE: Yamaha RX-V750 AV receiver power problem

G'day i have had the Same Problem With a Yamaha RX-V750 That i have Repaired...You need to Replace the Three Capacitors On the Sub-Transformer Board...They Hold a Small amount of current to use to turn over the transistors and in turn trip a relay that boots the unit these go dry all the time in these units..replace them and it will work again no prob's
Components As Follows:
2x 2.2 uF 100V (C402) (C403)
1x 1uF 50V (C401)

The relay also could be damaged...or the diode across the Coil you may have to replace these too these faults could have been caused by a surge...or just faulty cheap and nasty components!!

Yamaha RX-V359 the remote sensor in in the unit is not working. I have tried the remote control on another machine and that works

If the remote is working, but not with your receiver, there is maybe ID mismatch. Both the remote and receiver can be set to either ID1 or ID2 - this is used when you have 2 receivers nearby, so that both of them don't react on commands from both remotes.

See the "Advanced setup" of your manual. On receiver you can check/change the ID code by powering the receiver on (press STANDBY/ON) while holding down the STRAIGHT button on front panel. Display will show "Advanced setup". Use "program < >" keys to navigate the menu until you got to "REMOTE ID-XYZ". Then press STRAIGHT to select ID1 or ID2. Now press STANDBY/ON to turn the receiver off. After turning it on again, it will use the new settings.

You can also try to reset the remote control codes to factory defaults. On remote, press CODE SET with a tip of a pen or pencil. TRANSMIT light on remote will blink twice. Now press SETUP on the remote and then "9981". TRANSMIT should now blink twice and remote control is set to factory default codes.

My yamaha rx-v473 wont turn on

disconnect all wires from behind unit, speakers, input, and then try to power it up ,
if problem persist then try to tighten screws on back panel of the unit,
may sound silly but if amp board does not have good ground connection it can do that , go in protect mode .

Yamaha rx v473 cuts off

disconnect all speakers, turn it on. If it stays on, connect one pair of speakers at a time and when it shuts off, that speaker is the problem. There may be a short in the wire or the speaker may be bad. If you get that far, try connecting the bad speaker with another speakers wires.

My Rx-V473 won't turn on

It couldn't start after an update. I found how to fix it on the product page : http://download.yamaha.com/search/detail/?language=en&site=europe.yamaha.com&asset_id=58063&category_id=16446&product_id=1643029&1375038490

Receiver doesn't power up after the update.
Error message appeared when confirming the firmware version.
Recovery method using USB method:
1. Unplug the AC power cable from wall outlet.
2. Insert the USB thumb drive which has the firmware data stored inside, into the USB port located on the front panel.
3. Press and hold the INFO key and keep it pressed while you plug the AC power cable back into the wall outlet again.
" USB UPDATE " will appear on the front display. Then, release the INFO key.
4. The update will start automatically.
5. When " UPDATE SUCCESS " appears on the display, firmware update is completed.
Power off the receiver and remove the USB thumb drive.
6. Confirm updated firmware version.

Yamaha receiver will not connect to Airplay

I have the same problem, it seems the airplay connection is easily lost, it never plays for longer than an hour without itunes losing the receiver, then i have to reset the receiver so that it appears in itunes again, very annoying. I spoke to Yamaha and they are not aware of any issues but clearly there is one. A quick workaround is to bring the receiver up in a browser by typing in its IP address, go to IP Address tab and simply apply without changing anything, this causes the receiver to initialize its network function as you will see the amp resetting and it will then appear in iTunes. This doesn't work through the units setup without changing settings and then changing them back again. Hopefully this is just a glitch that will Yamaha will fix in the next firmware update, I am running 1.14 update.

Need manufacturer's setup code for Yamaha AV Receiver RX-V373

Using 1056B03 universal remote from Time Warner. Several codes actually will turn the unit off and allow volume control. Or..I can turn on and volume control. Can't do both. I tried to use the receiver codes in the vcr mode, but the remote rejects receiver codes (i.e. only accepts vcr codes).

It looks like one or the other, not both.
