Open the cover, make sure your cartriges are properly seated. it will proabably still ask you to re-align the cartriges. all this does (usually) is print a page and then ask you some questions about thw eay that page printed.
also, try turing you printer off and back on. (resatarting your PC with you printer may also help somehow, but that's pure unfounded speculation based on the experience that restarting the device usually fixes it...).
disconnect printer from power and from CPU/laptop. Leave off for a good minute. have paper loaded and cartridge case closed properly. reconnect to power and then CPU/laptop. attempt to print. follow instructions it provides.

Your printer uses 4 cartridges: PGI-5 Black and CLI-8 (Cyan/Magenta/Yellow). Unless you have a slot for a fifth cartridge, CLI-8BK cannot be used in your printer.
As for installing new cartridges:
Turn your printer on.Open the printer's lid. The printer
will automatically move the ink cartridges to the center of the opening.
Unplug the printer's power supply cord from the electrical
outlet to avoid the risk of an electrical shock.
Remove the printer cartridges by first pressing down on the
top of each cartridge housing. Pressing down on the cartridge housings
will cause the top of each housing to automatically lift up, thereby
exposing the cartridges. Lift the cartridges out of each cartridge
housing to remove them.
Install the replacement ink cartridges by first removing the
orange safety tape located on either the top or the bottom of each
cartridge, depending on the particular type of cartridge. The safety
tape ensures that the cartridges do not leak ink before being installed.
To remove the tape, simply pull the orange tab on the end of each piece
of tape away from each cartridge. Position each cartridge into its
cartridge housing so that the printed words on top of the each cartridge
faces towards the front of the printer, then close the tops of the

into the paper tray, which the printer will require to align the
Align the new cartridges by selecting either the "Clean and

Properties" option in the printer's program, then select the "Clean and
Align" option. The printer will produce several printed pages to confirm
that the cartridges have been aligned. Other Canon models allow the

features a display screen on the printer. Press the "Menu" button on the
display, then use the arrow keys to select "Settings." Press the "OK"
button, then use the arrow keys to highlight "Maintenance." Press the
"OK" button, then use the arrow keys to highlight "Manual Head Align."
Press the "OK" button, then use the arrow keys to highlight "Yes." Press
the "OK" button one final time, then allow the printer to produce the
printed pages confirming that the cartridges have been aligned.
Open top cover, exposing control pad.

This issue occurs if the alignment page is not perfectly or with good colors. Replace the low ink cartridge. If the ink levels are good do the following steps to clean cartridges :
1. Turn the unit on and open the lid or top cover. 2. Remove the cartridges. 3. Using a clean, dry lint-free cloth (a coffee filter works well), wipe the cartridge contacts, from the top to the bottom. The contact area of the cartridge should be rubbed briskly to remove the waxy lubricant material from the gold contacts. 4. The contacts inside the printer may also require cleaning. Using a clean, dry, lint-free cloth, 5. gently wipe the contacts, from the top to the bottom. 5. Re-insert the cartridges and close the printer's top cover.
Steps to manually align cartridges
1. Press Setup until Maintenance appears, and then press Enter.
2. Press until Align Cartridge appears, and then press Enter. Two pages are printed, one with instructions and one with patterns.
3. Follow the instructions on the instruction page, then place the page with patterns on the glass and press Enter. The cartridges are aligned correctly.
If the issue persists do the below to by pass alignment :
Press Setup and Options (or Copy Options) simultaneously when align message is prompted on the All-in-One.
