Chex2006,

Unfortunately, this was the best I can do for you:

Please call 888-476-6972 and speak directly to a Sony® support representative for further assistance. A resolution for this issue is available, but for security purposes, this resolution can only be provided by a support representative.

IMPORTANT: To ensure that only the rightful owner is granted access to the computer, a copy of the proof-of-purchase will be required at the time of the call.

...Good luck buddy,
Jem

According to the manual, here's the scoop...

Once you have set the power-on password, you cannot start the computer without entering the password. Make sure not to forget the password. Write down your password and keep it safe and private from other people.

If you forget the power-on password and need assistance to reset it, a password reset fee will be charged, and your computer may need to be sent in for depot service for a password reset.

Sorry. Good luck with it.

Unfortunately you must get in touch with acer to reset the password. There is no back door password, those worked in 1999, they are soon 12 year old codes.

I have a acer laptop and i cant remember the password at all. how can i fix the problem at home ?

I'm assuming the password is for your windows login and not a BIOS password.
You can try a reinstall but if you haven't backed up your system you may loose your data.
You can also check out this site for free windows password recovery tools:

I cant get into my laptop

If you actually take the backup battery (CMOS bat, not the laptop power battery) out, it resets the BIOS and if there was a password, it comes back....neat stuff!
Or, if the battery dies it can happen so I have read.

To get the password, an electronic circuit is used, called a ROM reader, it reads directly from the security or ROM chip, where the password actually resides> it is not in the BIOS, so cracks and taking the battery out like we always did with tower computers will not work!
That's an excerpt from an article on resetting the password, you have Vista and the old boot from safe mode doesn't work.Your Toshiba might even have a security password embedded in the computer that is impossible to get by.Try removing that memory battery,if it works, the worst you'll have is the need to reset your clock.
