hi
Boot the pc with erd commander (the one with XP) with the hard disk plugged in, and so you should access the hdd, then erd has also a tool to administrate the plugin, uninstall all these hdd plugin you have installed, then reboot without the usb hdd plugged, and when XP loads, plug this HDD to another USB. This should force XP to install again the drivers (that generic from XP) that uses to work.

Use whatever computer you used to find the drivers you will need to download. download them to a flash drive. the drivers you will need can be located by going to
start
control panel
system
click the hardware tab
then device manager

that will give you a list of everything installed on your system. if you click on the icons that have a red x or yellow exclamation point. those are the drivers you will need. write them done then go google where you can look them up and download thhem to the flash drive.

after you have them on your flash drive take it back to your computer and install them

From that web site download the drivers for your model including the wireless network card drivers.
You can check devices needs drivers by right- click "My Computer" select "Manage" then double-click on "Device Manager" and on the right pane you will see all the devices that are in your computer. The ones with yellow exclamations (or question mark) are the ones you need correct drivers installed or upgraded. Once you installed the correct drivers it wont have this yellow exclamation no more and they become usable..i.e your wireless network connection.

I can't get the ethernet controller to work. Tried countless drivers I can't load them directly to the toughbook as the network card doesn't work

You must have the correct driver. You can't just use any one. Give the model of your toughbook, and your operating system if you want a referral. If your controller is bad, you will probably need to take it to a technician to get it replaced. You can download a driver with another machine though, and save the file to a USB drive, and connect it, and install it...you don't need the ethernet card to "get" the file...if the card isn't working though, it won't install. (the software checks the hardware before it installs)

sounds like who ever rebuilt the unit didn't load all of the mother board resourses.

I would call them to make it right...if not...go to the panasonic web site for all of the driver for that unit and just load them.

Mouse cursor jumping uncontrollably all over screen.

Your touch pad drivers need to be installed. Power off the laptop. Install an external mouse, power back on and install drivers. When finished, power down, remove the external mouse and reboot.
