Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

SOURCE: Downloaded driver for cybershot dsc s500, then try to interface camera with computer, pc doesnt see the camera in control panel or my computer removable hard drive.

Sony has the roughest firmware known to man for digital cameras. If running Windows XP or Vista you can simply connect the camera to the USB port and let the computer do the rest. Picbrige works the best for it downloads the quickest. Picbrige will be on your cameras list of choices to use for downloading

SOURCE: My Sony Cybershot Dsc-w370 doesn't work with Windows Movie Maker

Use a card reader to upload the videos to a folder you create on your desktop. From there, you can try to get movie maker to open them.

How do U upload photosfrom my computer to my sony cyber shot DSC-S500

I'm not sure that you can upload photos from the computer to the camera. i have never seen a camera you could do that with. The only way you might be able to do it is if you are using a sony memory card in your camera and you took the memory card out of the camera and put it in a memory card reader connected to your computer. Put the photos from your computer on to your memory card and then put the memory card back in the camera.
