There is only one extra connector on the back. A small 14 pin connector
The HP Pavillion desktop has a standard svga output. You CAN. Run this the the PC input on the back of pyour LCD/ LED tv if there is one. You will also need to run a stereo audio cable to the inputs on your tv for sound. The other way would be to install an HDMI out capable video card for your computer. Either way, it can be done. The naughty sales person should have explained, yes! you need a connector/adapter. not expensive just a pain to have too return to purchase.

Hi there from reading your whats you wrote this tell's me that your computer screen has gone bad. Because you are using a laptop you cannot change the graphic card,for you to solve this problem you need to change the screen.

Ok, did you enable the tv as a monitor in display settings (right click the desktop, go to properties, setting- see if the laptop is picking up the display)
That sounds like your problem
