Are you trying to boot from the battery? Make sure you have the power cord plugged into the laptop in case the battery is dead. When you try to boot up the laptop, can you hear the fan or hard drive spin up? If neither of these are doing anything and you are sure you have power to the laptop you may have a dead machine and need to take to a repair shop. If you can hear the drive or fan, at least you know that something is working. Depending on the brand of laptop, you can access the boot screen(CMOS) by pressing the F2 or F10 or Esc key. 8 If you can access the CMOS screen then you know the video also is working on you're laptop. If you cannot get this to work then again you will need to take this to a repair shop because the video may be out and the motherboard may be bad. All I can do is give you some suggestions to look at. It could be that the hard drive is corrupt but the you would still have a message show up on your screen saying something. From your limited question, I can only give you limited response. Hope this helps..

Blank screen after boot splash screen

Hi.

After you see the press Del and F12 message repeatedly tap the F8 key, see if that gets to the advanced boot menu, if it does select "Repair my Computer" from the list, and then follow the prompts. Have your Win 7 disk ready just in case you need it.

Let me know how you get on and good luck!!

Just got cq56-115dx laptop this morning. turned it off after setting it up. Turned it back on and only have blank screen. Power shows lit up.

Hi.

Remove the AC power (charger) and then take the battery out. Plug in just the AC power supply and turn the laptop on, see if it boots up and shows a display on-screen. If it boots let it boot up and then shut it down as normal. Reinsert the battery and try as normal.
If you still get a blank screen can you then tell me if you get any post (splash) information like the Compaq Presario logo before it goes blank.

Good luck.

Sony VGC-LS35E BLANK SCREEN

Do you mean after windows has booted you have a blank screen?
Boot into windows in safe mode (by pressing F8) during the boot up process.
When booted go into device manager and remove any video drivers under display adapters, if it asks to delete the files as well answer yes.
Reboot into normal mode and let windows find the driver for you.

Screen goes blank at start up

Its failing to go through the full boot process. Try pressing F8 on boot until the boot option screen comes up and then select safe mode. Follow this though until you are given the option of using system restore instead of safe mode. take that option by clicking on the NO button. Restore the machine to a date some time a few days previous to the fault developing.

If that fails then put in any OS disc and boot from it. select R at the first options screen, follow it through and then select the C drive option. Just hit enter when asked for admin password.

now type chkdsk /r (copy and paste this to be sure). let it run and then reboot and see what happens

Xp boots and hang up on blank screen

Insert the original Windows XP "System Restore" CD-ROM,
and tell your computer to "boot" from it.

Does it boot, and get to a screen that asks you "do you really want to ...", or does it stop at a "blank" screen?

If it "stops", you have a "hardware" problem.
If it "asks", then either:
* your disk-drive has failed, or is about to fail,
* your installed copy of Windows is messed-up, and it cannot complete the "boot" process.

Take your computer to a computer-store, for more trouble-shooting.
