Question about Pioneer SD-P50A3-K TV
I was given this as is. When you push the power button it sounds like it is coming on, you can hear the high frequency from the electricity/magnetic field, but then nothing else happens. It is pretty much clean inside, no great amount of dust. I saw a panel with a few fuses in it, they look good. Anybody know what I should do? Any help will be appreciated!
Is this set several years old, and has it been good till now? There is one on the internet, 8 years old for sale with the same symptoms as your friends. There is an internet site `tv-forums.com. Presumably you have already looked with the back off. Make sure there is not a build up of dust, which will cause overheating. If it has a 150 watt UHP lamp, or similar,(expensive!) it may need replacing. The lamp must be cooled by a fan, so make sure this is srill working. There should be a thermal cutout which automatically resets.

I had a similar problem with my Phillips 42 in. LCD HD TV.
Here's the problem. The Power Supply Board. I opened my TV up(warranty was up of course) and found several bad capacitors. Phillips and several other companies were sold capacitors that although were highly rated failed within 5 years because of a lack of preservatives. All sorts of electronic equipment is now being effected due to these defective capacitors.
1. Take it in and have it fixed
2. Open it up, check the board for faulty capacitors(bulged or leaking) Buy a new Power supply board and install it.
3. Remove PSB, remove faulty capacitors and replace with compatible new ones.
Hope this helps
