Have you tried a restore/recovery? Idon't think the ram is going to help with a boot speedup. That said, the memory is of the same type as the original? Has this just started? what preceeded this avent?

SOURCE: acer aspire 3000 wi fi problem

First you need to make sure the Wireless drivers are installed in the computer, aswell the Acer Related utilities. Then Most acer laptops have a button on one of the sides or on the top of the laptop to turn on the wireless.

To find out if you have the acer related programs installed, try pressing some of the buttons on the top of the laptop, that are NOT apart of the keyboard, they should open up acer or related programs, if noting happens the programs are not installed, one of the buttons is likely to turn on the wireless.

To check if the wireless drivers are installed press start -> run -> type: msinfo32 (OR press down the windows key and press R, then let go and type msinfo32 into the run menu that comes up and click OK)

On the program, left side, open up components from the + next to it, then find Problem devices from the list and click on it, on the right you will see a list of devices that are not installed or not working.

If the list is empty, everything is properly installed. and you should be able to get your wireless to turn on by pressing on the wireless button on the laptop, and then use your computer to connect to a wireless network.

If you need further assistance let me know.

SOURCE: Replacing CMOS battery - Acer aspire 3000

Before you begin, back up your data and remove the battery. CMOS Bios will be lost but will reset on restart.

    Instructions
  1. Step 1 Open the laptop computer's screen and lay it back as far as it will go. Be careful not to stress the screen and cause any damage, but press it hard if needed.
  2. Step 2 Press a flathead screwdriver under the front of the plastic bar lining the back of the laptop's keyboard. Pry the bar up slightly and hold it with one hand.
  3. Step 3 Pry up the other side of the bar with the flathead screwdriver and fully pull out the bar. Keep its ribbon cord connected and set the bar on the laptop's screen.
  4. Step 4 Remove the two Phillips screws securing the computer's keyboard. Then, slide the keyboard up and out to remove it. Again, do not remove its ribbon cord, and set the keyboard over the laptop's touch pad.
  5. Step 5 Remove the four screws securing the cover plate over the motherboard and remove it as well.
  6. Step 6 Locate the CMOS battery at the bottom right corner of the motherboard.
  7. Step 7 Remove the battery by prying it up gently with the flathead screwdriver. Then, replace the battery with a new one of the exact same specifications.
  8. Step 8 Replace all the parts in the laptop in the reverse order that you removed them. -Battery Replacement

SOURCE: acer aspire one slow running on skype video

That system is upgradeable to 2 GB DDR2 RAM (one stick) which would probably help, but if not there's really nothing else upgradeable in that system. Going with the current costs of RAM (when shopping online, like at newegg or zipzoomfly) it would be worth it to upgrade it just to give it a try and see if that does help.

Hi i am having a problem with my acer aspire 6930 i think my hdd crashed recently, here is what happened i pressed power and the machine would not load to windows and with further check the hdd was not...

It almost sounds as if it is lagging greatly. Windows 7, just like Vista before it required a lot of RAM memory to help it along. Unlike Vista, Win7 only recommends 2 gigs of ram, and a minimum of 1. If your computer has one, it has the bare minium and can cause a slow down like that. Windows XP sounds like the previous OS you had (based off of the model of acer you referenced). That ran well with 512 - 1 gig of RAM.
So if that is the case i woukd suggest to increase your RAM. I suggest tigerdirect.com or newegg.com. Stores like Best Buy will just rip you off or severely overcharge you.
You can go to www.corsair.com to find out was RAM memory is required for your computer using there Memory finder tool.

Why acer aspire one d255 run so slow, shut down so slow

System recovery is only really needed if you have malware infections that can't be removed by anti-malware programs or if you've had your computer for years and never bothered to clear out the rubbish that accumulates over time. If you clean your computer and scan for malware regularly (once a week for both) then you should be able to delay having to use System Recovery. I use my computer A LOT and use System Recovery about every 2 years.
Here are some links for cleaning software and anti-malware that are all excellent products and totally free :

1/. http://www.piriform.com/CCLEANER
Run cleaner then registry - fix issues

2/. http://advanced-systemcare.en.softonic.com/download
Run deep care cleaner, then open Toolbox and run Ram cleaner deep scan, then minimise. Get to know the toolbox, it does some amazing things.

3/. http://download.cnet.com/Auslogics-Disk-Defrag/3000-2094_4-10567503.html?part=dl-6267754&subj=dl&tag=button
Analyse your hard drive then defragment & optimise.

4/. http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button
Run scan for malware and follow instructions if any is discovered.

If you use the 2 cleaners and the malware scanner once a week your system will function well. The cleaners take a few minutes & the malware scanner about 30 mins.
You should only need to use the defrag once a month. This takes about 30 mins.

If you've used these and there is no major improvement then System Recovery is your only option.
Don't forget to reload all of these tool after System Recovery and use them regularly as I've recommended & you will keep your computer running really well.

I hope this helps.

No sound on notebook

Why not take the laptop back in time. You won't lose any data.

Start > Help and Support > Undo changes made to my computer > Restore my computer to an earlier time.

Make sure that you pick a date prior to your problem starting.

You will lose any programs that were installed after that date, but no data.

Well, there are too many many reasons that can cause an Acer notebook running slow or freeze now and then, for most cases, it can be affected by various hidden Windows errors. Those problems firstly cause your Acer slow, and then freeze up occasionally. One day crash all of a sudden.
