New Computers w/ Vista and old XP Disk for installation

I purchased a HP5780 in July of 2007 and ran it on my old laptop with Windows XP and all was well. Now I have purchased two new laptops that each use Vista. The CD will not install the program as it only has 2000 and XP drivers on it. How do I "upgrade" when I cant even get the past program on my machine? Please help!

I have a new computer with Windows 7. Also have

I have just come off the phone to canon and they advised me that they have and will not have for some time any drivers for any Canon product that is running with Windows 7, which i think sucks... a huge company such as Canon and they are wayyy behind on technoligy, i told them i have installed Windows 7 and they told me im better off going back to XP which i will do, i was also informed that they are expecting Microsoft to release the driver for my MP600 to run on Vista 64 bit. omg that is old now and who wants a 64 bit pc anyway lol more trouble than they are worth but i guess Canon will eventually have the drivers i need one day but they are very much on the back seat at the moment.

Printer (922) won't install on new laptop

If your laptop is running Vista and your old desktop was running XP and the disk you got with your printer had drivers that worked with XP and Vista is not listed on them, it would be a case of incompatibility. You would need to go to the Dell website to download updated drivers for Vista if they are not of the standard Vista driver package. (The driver model changed between XP and Vista making XP drivers incompatible with Vista.)

I have misplaced my registration disk to install the old printer to my new laptop what can i do in this case to still use printer

Hello thebdd

Unless it is a high end special purpose printer for which you must purchase a license to run, registration or restrictions on the computer or number of computers it can be installed on are not used.

In these cases, you can install the printer on as many computers as you like. 99% of the time, the "drivers" for the printer can be downloaded from the manufacturer's web site. You don't need the disk that came w/ the printer.

Please, tell us the following and we'll find your printer's drivers and installation instructions for you if you like.

(01) Manufacturer and model number of the printer.
(02) Manufacturer and model number of the computer you wish to connect the printer to.
(03) What operating system is installed on the computer you wish to connect the printer to. (e.g. Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Mac OSX, etc.)

Please, post back here w/ the answers to these questions, and we'll find what you need for you.

Thank you
BJ @:)

My pc wont let me run software

im sorry dude but you have to switch your PC operating system to Windows Vista. Most of the programs in windows vista is not already compatible in windows XP (especially those lower versions of XP like Service Pack 1). it needs higher specs even Microsoft office 2007 as well is not compatible. If you want, you can go to www.hp.com for the dirvers for windows XP service pack 2.

Updating a printer with Vista.

Hp has a new driver package available from its website. However, it's best to install the basic printer driver under vista, as the software package does not work properly (even though it says it's for vista).
