Sharp aquos gb004wjsa remote stopped working.I change the batteries. I unplugged the tv for a 1/2 hr. I took the batteries out of the remote and pushed all the buttons. None of this worked. The tv is less than 6 mths old. Can you help?

First replace the batteries in the transmitter. If that doesn't work you may need either the transmitter, or the IR PCB & possibly the MAIN PCB(this is the IR board & MAIN inside the TV for which you will need the TV model#)

the polarity of the batteries in case the monkeyed with them.
Remove the batteries from the remote, unplug the Power to the TV, reinstall remote batteries taking care the polarity of the batteries in case the kids monkeyed with them and then plug the power cord back into the TV.
If that fails, take the remote to the store and and see if it works on their Sharp TV like yours. If that fails contact Sharp support for a replacement. (1.800.BE.SHARP)

First of all... forgive me me if its a dumb question. But... How long has it been since you changed the batteries in the remote?

When your remote stops working it usually is caused by 2 things.
The first being that the remote control has either been banged against a hard surface thereby damaging some of the internal components.
The other option being that the previous batteries leaked inside and also caused some for of damage.
In the first option you just have to get a replacement remote for your unit. In the second option you can get a repair expert to take a look at the remote clean it up for you and you remote is working fine again.

I had the same issue with my Sharp Aquos 52 inch LCD TV. I called Sharp. The tech had me unplug my TV, take the batteries out of the remote (TV remote not cable) and press all buttons on the remote (including the buttons under the flip top at the bottom of the remote). I did this, put the batteries back in and plugged in the tv and everything worked. I had gone 4 months having to use the surround sound for volume and turning the TV on and off by hand. This took 2 minutes to fix.

Do you get any indicator lights at all, if you do, then the 5v standby circuit is working, if you get nothing at all, then the main power supply will be the first palce to look, blown fuse? capacitors?

try unplugging tv.

you might try unplugging the TV and then plugging in again. It worked for me

Unplugging my TV for 15 seconds (longer actually - at least a minute) made the remote and the satellite TV remote both work again with the TV.  Thanks for the tip!

take the batteries out of the Sharp remote press and hold the POWER button on the top of the remote for 5 seconds. Put batteries back in. Make sure that function is set to TV. Should work - if not call Sharp. If you are inside the original manufacturer warranty they will replace remote
