Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I currently have a JVC XL-E3 CD Player. It powers up OK & plays CDs but the sound is very hissy with virtually no sound! Could the laser need cleaning or is there something further wrong?

This CD Player is a JVC Hifi seperate. All other components all work OK (Tuner,Cassette Decks & Phono). If you could help that would be much appreciated.Thank you in anticipation.

If it is sepperate from the rest of the system, My advice would be just to get a different one, To me it sounds like a problem with the lazer eye, In some of them what happens from heat the unit gives off while playing, The term us techs use is the lens gets milky,Then it will sound like (****) to put it mindly. It is verry costly to have it replaced, I have bought good used disc players for friends of mine for $7 to $30 at the most, At thrift stores or privately,One thing when buying one if it is dusty  inside when you open up the drawer, Stay away from it, Hope this helps you out.

Hi there,
Save hours of searching online or wasting money on unnecessary repairs by talking to a 6YA Expert who can help you resolve this issue over the phone in a minute or two.

SOURCE: PIONEER DC-Z92 CASSETTE DECK AMPLIFIER

Is this one of the units that has a ribbon cable ( looks alot like an IDE hard drive cable) that connects all the components together? It also has a squre plastic fan that protrudes slightly from the rear (by about a 16th of an inch)? If so, it's the power module which consists of 2 boards (along the fan housing). You can probably find replacements for about $70, but I wouldn't bother. They quit making new replacements several years ago and any board you get now is just a pull from old stck units.... and they fail about 2 minutes after you put them in. Pioneer knows this but still sells the defective parts.

SOURCE: cd player not playing some cds: denon cd player ucd-77

It's not the cds that are the problem as they work in other cd players. Its seems to be the denon cd player itself that doesn't seem to be reading the cds.

SOURCE: radio has sound but not the CD player or iPod

Your amp is not turning on - what you should do is connect the "blue/white - remote turn-on lead" to whatever wire you have the "blue - power antenna" output from the Alpine connected to now. That should solve your problem.

Cds play on all cd players but the ones i made on new computer do not why?

it all depends on the CD's your using. some CD's will not play on some players. try DVD-R blank disc, this may make a difference. try one to see ! I ran into the same problem a while ago! it depends on the player itself, DVD-R 4.7GB data 16xspeed. this should work if player is compatable with it.

My jvc cd player will not play the cd it says read & then no disk

the optical pickup (lens and laser) is dirty and needs cleaning. you can buy a **** cleaner and use it regularly, but if you need it too often, you'll want to take it apart to clean it.

Jvc kd-sx770 car stereo--radio works, but cd player doesn't

Hello beeswing70,

The player is recognizing that a CD has been inserted but is not able to read it.

Sometimes the lens assembly becomes contaminated and obscures the laser. I'd try using a commercial "lens cleaning CD" two or three times and then try a CD again. These lens cleaning CD's are widely available. If cleaning does not help, the player need professional service.

Hope this helps.

I can not play cds, radio and tape ok but cd does not work i do not know what to do

you can try a cleaning disc , but it probably will not read that either so manually cleaning the laser lens would then need to be done , then if it still does not read there may be a problem with the focus on the lens or ,the laser is out , which then the laser mech. would need to be replaced.

You won't get any sound unless you connect your CD player to an appropriate input on your amplifier (any but phono or tape/md) and connect your speakers to this amp.

Shout if you need more help.
