Question about Electrical Supplies

My Insinkerator 5-75 will not turn on

It doesn't even make a sound when I flip the switch. I have checked the circuit breaker and pushed the restart button (actually pushed it all the way up into the disposal where it is no longer exposed.)

SOURCE: my garbage disposal isn't working.

On the bottom of the disposal there is a small red reset switch. Push it in and see if it stays. Turn on switch and see what happens. If it hums or buzzes take a 1/4 inch allen wrench and insert it into opening in the center of the bottom. Turn wrench back and forth while running hot water through disposal to help clear any blockage. Turn on switch on and see if thats helped. Thank you.

It sounds like you put in ordinary wall switch.
You use the word 'pigtail' which implies electrical knowledge, so without a photo it's hard to tell where the switch is shorting the circuit.
You need a single-pole switch with 2 screws and a ground screw.
If you use a 3-way switch, your wires are connected to dark screw and one of the brass screw
You have 2 wires running between receptacle and disposal.
The wall switch interrupts one wire. Not both wires.
So one wire from receptacle runs continuously to disposal.
The other wire is cut and one end attaches to a switch screw, the other end of the cut wire attaches on the other switch screw.
The bare ground wire connects to green screw.
Preferably the Hot wire is cut.

The machine doesn't work even in plug

First check that the house circuit breaker isn't tripped. If it seems good, unplug the machine and plug a lamp or something in to check receptical. If all seems good let me know.

Why does the 30 amp circuit breaker behind the battery box on my 1990 fatboy click once when i push the ignition button? The bike won't start.

Try to reset the circuit breaker. also check for an earth fault on the starter motor .If this is not a circuit breaker and is a relay, you should make sure everything is ready for a start, (ie : in neutral, sidestand up and clutch in and that the battery is charged.) the neutral light being "on" doesn't mean it is in neutral. I hope this helps.

DISPOSAL HUMS BUT CANT FIND RESET BUTTON ON WHITMAN

The problem is not that you tripped the circuit breaker. Problem is that your disposer is jammed.
Over time, food particles may accumulate in the grind chamber and baffle. Here's what to do:
1. Place stopper in sink opening and fill sink halfway with warm water.
2. Mix 1/4 cup baking soda with water. Turn disposer on and remove stopper from sink at same time to wash away loose particles.
If that doesn't help, you have to release the disposer jam.
1. Turn off disposer and water.
2. insert one end of self-service wrenchette into center hole on bottom of disposer. (It's a funny looking slightly "S" curved tool.)
3. Reach into disposer with tongs and remove object(s). Allow disposer motor to cool for 3 - 5 minutes, then lightly push red reset button on disposer bottom. (It maybe indented so almost unoticeable.) If motor remains inoperative, check service panel for tripped circuit breaker or blown fuses.

I have a question about a Carrier Air conditioner. It's an outside unit and it's old. When I turn the air on the air blows from the inside heater/air unit upstairs in the wall. Outside the air con ...

Could be just a blown fuse or circuit breaker. Fuses are generally located close to the unit in a small box on the side of the house. You will have to flip the box open to find the fuses. It may have a cartridge you have to pull out. Fuses are not visibly bad, you have to check them with an ohm meter or sometimes a hardware store can check them for you. Otherwise you will have to buy two and just replace them both.
The circuit breakers are usually in the house along with all the other breakers in a main panel. There will be two breakers and will probably be visibly tripped. Just flip them all the way back and forward to reset

It doesn't sound like you are getting a true 230 volts to the timer. Measure from terminal 1 to terminal 3. You should read 230 volts. If you are getting 230 volts between 1 and 3, return the timer, it's defective. If you are not getting 230 between 1 and 3, then you'll have to have a look inside the electric panel to see what has been miswired. There should be a 2 pole breaker with a white and a black wire connected to it that goes out to the timer.

If you plug it into the original outlet under the sink and flip the switch, nothing happens? No motor sound? And when you plug it into a different outlet, you can hear the motor, but the blades don't turn?
If this is the situation, I would guess that there's a problem with the insinkerator. Something stuck in it, or it's otherwise jammed. This could have tripped a breaker.
If the breaker failed or the circuit wasn't wired properly, this jammed condition could also have resulted in the wire at the switch or under-sink receptacle burning off of the terminals.
Turn off the circuit at the panel, double check that it's off, and remove the switch and the receptacle to see if the wires are still connected. If they've burned off, do not re-connect them. You should consult a licensed electrician to correct a hazardous situation.

Water does not flow, it flows very slowly. even the motor does not work.

You need to use a plumbing snake to clean the drain from the output of the InSinkErator, just as you would clean a sink drain. On the bottom of the InSinkErator there will be a small button that will actually be a circuit breaker. This needs to be re-set by pushing it in. I would also get an appropriate size Allen wrench and insert it into the bottom of the ISE at the center. This will allow you to turn the ISE by hand and perhaps break up any debris that might be in the unit. DO ALL THIS WORK WITH THE UNIT UNPLUGGED!!!

Disposal does not run. I've turned the appliance

Your disposal unit may be on a GFI protected circuit which has tripped. If you don't have a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupter) in your kitchen, check your main breaker box since they are often installed there.

Insinkerator has power but does not grind garbage. have hit reset button and turned allen screw at bottom. now i dont get a hum from the motor.

Is it hardwired or does it plug into an outlet? If it plugs in, check the outlet for power. Is a circuit breaker tripped? How do you know it has power if it doesn't even hum?

Air compressor flips breaker before it will start?

Air compressors tend to draw more power as they age, however, will not trip breaker unless some malfunction. Here are some simple tests. Unplug compressor and turn the pump by hand, you may have to remove a cover to do this. It should turn freely; any resistance could be failing bearing (would make noise) unloader/check valve leaking allowing back pressure to pump, or failed start capacitor/start winding. Easy test for checkvalve. With pressure in tank loosen discharge hose at tank and check for air leak. Check valve should hold pressure in tank. Replace as needed. Failed capacitor/s will cause high amp draw. Remove from circuit and test. UF reading should be within 95% of printed rating. Finally, most air compressor motors have two windings, start and run. Power to windings is controlled by flyball switch inside rear of motor. This switch has contacts that can stick in start position and cause high amp draw. Examine windings for signs of overheating. Copper windings generally have color of new penny. Very dark brown windings bad news. Gook luck
